The Virtus Pro Dota 2 roster are here to stay after extending their contracts, which will now last through 2018, the organisation announced via their official website.
The Most Successful Virtus Pro Dota Squad Yet
Virtus Pro is one of the oldest professional gaming organisations in the world, having been founded in 2003.
They also have quite the history with Dota as well. The organisation was one of the first to have a professional squad competing in tournaments. In fact, they already had a roster back when the game was still a Warcraft III mod.
The current Virtus Pro Dota roster, however, has the chance to be one of the organisation’s most successful, if it already isn’t.
Having played together since August 2016, the team didn’t take any time becoming not just one of CIS’ top squads, but in the world.
Known for their aggressive playstyle, favouring heroes such as Ursa and Magnus, Virtus Pro have solidified themselves as CIS’ top squad and a perennial contender.
So far, the current roster has, among many other things, won two DOTA summit titles back-to-back and placed 2nd at The Kiev Major.
The team is currently composed of the following members:
- Roman ‘RAMZES666’ Kushnarev
- Vladimir ‘No[o]ne] Minenko
- Pavel ‘9pasha’ Khvastunov
- Ilya ‘Lil’ Ilyuk
- Alexei ‘Solo’ Berezin
It’s very uncommon for an organisation to lock up a roster for such a long time. However, the current Virtus Pro Dota squad have proven themselves deserving and worthy of the contract.
The extension will definitely do wonders for a team who’s known for their absolute confidence in themselves; a scary thought for the teams they’ll be facing at The International 7 in Seattle.
