ViCi Gaming Go Ham in Day 1 of the Perfect World Playoffs

ViCi Gaming go 4-0 in Day 1 of the Perfect World Playoffs to secure a Top 3 finish and position themselves for another deep LAN run.

With yet another dominant showing, ViCi Gaming are slowly making people forget about their abysmal 0-4 performance in their LAN debut at the Starladder Minor.

Who’s Going to Stop Vici Gaming?

Team Secret looked iffy against CompLexity Gaming in the first match of Day 1 of the Perfect World Playoffs. Although they won the series 2-1, it was clear that they weren’t always on the same page. They even lost Game 1, with CompLexity Gaming’s aggression and activity all over the map catching them off-guard, as many expected.

Mineski, meanwhile, continued to prove averse to change in their matchup against ViCi Gaming. Even though they’ve had little success with their core Medusa and Vengeful Spirit picks, they still decided to give them to Chai ‘Mushi‘ Yee Fung in Games 1 and 2 respectively. Partially as a result of their stubborness, they lost both games quite handily.

In the semifinals, ViCi Gaming squared off against Team Secret for the first time this season. And, unsurprisingly, Team Secret, who are playing with a stand-in, struggled to put up a fight against a more disciplined team.

Zeng ‘Ori‘ Jiaoyang’s dominance in the midlane was on full display all throughout the semifinals. Even Chen ‘Cty‘ Tianyu, who himself is considered as one of the best laners in Dota 2, could do nothing as Ori helped keep him in check and constantly in need of help, allowing ViCi Gaming’s hard carry, Zhang ‘Paparazi‘ Chengjun, to do as he pleased.

Paparazi finished the series with a combined total of 19 kills and just 1 death on Terrorblade and Slark respectively with ViCi Gaming closing things out in less than an hour.

Much like in Day 1, four teams will face off tomorrow with only 1 team moving on to the upper bracket finals with a Top 3 finish already secured. Meanwhile, Team Secret, Mineski, and CompLexity Gaming will test their luck in the lower brackets on Day 3 of the Perfect World Playoffs onwards.

Here’s the schedule for tomorrow:

10:00 SGT — LGD.ForeverYoung vs Newbee (BO3)
14:00 SGT — Team Kinguin vs Vega Squadron (BO3)
18:00 SGT — TBD vs TBD (BO3)

Will LFY dominate tomorrow to setup a rematch against ViCi Gaming in the upper bracket finals? Or will Team Kinguin continue their spectacular run and pull off an upset once again? Be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments down below.
