TNC Rise Above the Others at the MDL Macau SEA Qualifier

TNC Pro Team have finally ended their qualifier drought, becoming only the second team from Southeast Asia to beat Mineski in a series in the Grand Finals of the MDL Macau SEA Qualifier.

The win helps TNC Pro Team secure their first Pro Circuit tournament berth of the season. They will now join Infamous, OG, Natus Vincere, LFY and one more qualifier team, as well as 2 more direct invites, at the MDL Macau Minor later on December 8-10.

MDL Macau SEA Qualifier – TNC End Their Drought

TNC Pro Team spent the months leading up to The International 7 as the de-facto powerhouse in Southeast Asia; Team Faceless were clearly not a top-tier team, while Fnatic, Execration and Mineski all had their issues.

After choosing to stand pat during the post TI7 shuffle, many expected TNC Pro Team to continue their dominance over the region. Instead, however, the exact opposite happened. Mineski’s rise from seemingly out of nowhere as a legitimate top-tier team have made qualifying in Southeast Asia a real struggle. TNC Pro Team know this all too well, having lost to Chai Mushi’ Yee Fung and Daryl Koh ‘iceiceice‘ Pei Xiang three times in a row in the Grand Finals of a Pro Circuit Qualifier.

As it turned out, though, the fourth time was the charm for TNC Pro Team.

TNC Pro Team swept both of their matchups against WG.Unity and Fnatic in the single-elimination MDL Macau SEA Qualifier to set up a fourth Grand Finals matchup against Mineski. And, this time around, they literally flipped the script on Mineski.

In two out of three of their previous Grand Finals matchups, TNC Pro Team took the first game in the series before getting swept. This time, Mineski took the first game, with TNC Pro Team doing the sweeping themselves.

Their carry duo of Carlo ‘Kuku‘ Palad and Marc Polo Luis ‘Raven‘ Fausto were absolutely phenomenal throughout the MDL Macau SEA Qualifier. However, it was Samson Solomon Enojosa ‘Sam_H’ Hidalgo who helped them win the series against Mineski.

His all-around performance on Nyx Assassin in the series clincher was a sight to behold. That it came against iceiceice, who is one of the best Nyx Assassin players in the world, is an added bonus.

  • Marc Polo Luis ‘Raven‘ Fausto
  • Carlo ‘Kuku‘ Palad
  • Sam ‘Sam_H‘ Hidalgo
  • Timothy ‘Tims‘ Randrup
  • Theeban ‘1437‘ Siva
