The International 2019 Battle Pass to Release on May 7

Weeks if not months of anticipation — and shit-posting on the Dota 2 subreddit — have finally forced Valve to reveal the release date for the The International 2019 Battle Pass.

It’s only been barely two weeks since Valve announced the schedule for The International 2019. So, it comes as a bit of a surprise that Valve would announce when they would make the TI9 Battle Pass available. Even more surprising is that the announcement comes just a day before the actual release date.

Yes, you read that right, just a day.

On Tuesday, May 7, Valve will release The International 2019 Battle Pass, making it available for all players to buy.

Are You Ready for The International 2019 Battle Pass?

Implemented to serve as a replacement and improvement over the TI Compendium, the TI Battle Pass allows Dota 2 fans from all over the world to literally take part in Dota 2’s The International by helping fund it. Mind you, players don’t donate money directly to the prize pool. Instead, they buy the TI Battle Pass and add more funds in exchange for in-game cosmetics and additional in-game features, among other things.

A portion of the funds spent by players on the TI Battle Pass will go directly towards funding the TI prize pool, which helps balloon the base $1.6 million prize money initially put up by Valve to go upwards of $25 million, as it did last year.

OG, who won The International 2018, took home the lion’s share at $11.2 million, with the rest of the prize pool being distributed to the other participants based on their placements.

Unfortunately, we don’t exactly know just yet how much The International 2019 Battle Pass will cost. But, what we do know is that, for the past three years, the TI Battle Pass has been sold for $9.99 each. You can buy one for yourself, and give it to a friend. Once you have it, you can level it up by either completing daily, weekly, and monthly quests, as well as betting on DPC tournaments, or you can buy levels for it starting at $2.49 for 5 levels.
