Team Liquid Lend Name to Fortnite Ranked Mode

Fortnite Player League (FNPL) are working in partnership with Team Liquid to bring a Ranked Solo’s mode (FNPL x TL) to Fortnite in absence of any progress on that front from developer, Epic Games. The mode will be a fully fledged ELO matchmaking system, where you will progress through tiers and leaderboards allowing you to accurately gauge your skill level against the worlds best. A Fortnite ranked mode has long been asked for by the community and if you are interested in becoming a pro in Fortnite you need to get involved.

The system works within Discord – all you have to do is link your Fortnite account, join the region appropriate FNPL Channel and queue at the correct time.

Fortnite Ranked – The Facts

Fortnite Ranked

When you begin playing on FPNL you won’t have a rank, after 10 games you will be given a placement. Your rank and gaining rank is based not only on placement but kills as well. Also depending on how many FNPL players in your lobby determines the weight of the gain/loss in ELO.

There are 5 tiers in the ranked system – Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond and Master. Silver to Diamond have divisions – DIV I – III. Players can play in a division two below and one above their current rank.

You can be demoted and will suffer rank decay if you don’t play for over 14 days between matches.

Currently, there is only a Solo ranked mode, with plans to add Duos and Squads as the number of players increases.

Fortnite Ranked – How To

Download Discord for Windows. It is available on Xbox but if you are on PlayStation you will need to also work with a computer to access the ranked system.

Join the correct discord for you.

You will then need to link your Fortnite account to the discord channel so it can track your stats. To do this add “FNPL Bot” on Fortnite and follow the instructions it sends you.

You can check yours and other players stats on the FNPL leaderboard, or type !stats in Discord to display your stats in a jpeg.

Team Liquid Gatekeepers?

Where Team Liquid come into it isn’t clear yet, with a post on Reddit suggesting there is big news coming next week. Team Liquid players have long played in the FNPL, it’s where they cut their teeth before getting their chance in the Summer Skirmish where they made their name.

Team Liquid was the first competitively successful organization in Fortnite but in recent months Ghost Gaming has been doing the best work in player acquisition so this could be a move to keep tabs on new talent.

Where Epic goes from here is anyone’s guess. But looking at the past and the way they moved quickly to start a competitive tournament when Keemstars Friday Fortnite was blowing up shows they don’t like major parts of the business out of their control. An official Fortnite Ranked mode might just be around the corner.
