Team Faceless disbands after dominating the SEA scene post TI6, Tammy ‘FurryFish’, the team’s manager, confirmed so live on stream.
Dominating the SEA Dota Scene
Team Faceless started off as a non-sponsored, as their manager put it, “team of friends”, with the initial goal of going to TI.
Daryl ‘iceiceice’ Koh, one of the most successful pro players in the world, took the risk of funding the team directly from his pockets at the start. However, it didn’t take long for his gamble to pay off.
With a roster filled with the likes of Dominik ‘Black^’ Reitmeier, Wong ‘NutZ’ Jeng Yih, Anucha ‘Jabz’ Jirawong and Toh ‘Xy-‘, Team Faceless quickly dominated the highly competitive SEA region.
The team would go on to secure multiple qualifiers and titles within the region. But, despite their success in SEA, the team failed to perform as expected against international competition.
Team Faceless performed poorly at The Summit 7 and Boston Major performing finishing in 3rd-place at DotaPit LAN. The team then continued their string of underwhelming performances at LAN tournaments before finishing 4th-place at the Manila Masters.
That would be the last time the team would appear in a LAN as they would disappoint and fail to secure a spot at TI7 via the SEA Regional Qualifiers.
Not a single member of the Team Faceless have yet to issue an official statement regarding the team breaking up. Likewise, the team’s official Facebook Page has yet to post an update regarding this.
Jabz of Team Faceless was spotted earlier playing as standins for Mineski during the WCA SEA Qualifiers. Also playing as a stand-in was Kam Boom ‘NaNa’ Seng of WarriorsGaming.Unity.
Many long-time fans were saddened knowing that plenty of TI veterans would not be making it to The International this year.
News of Team Faceless breaking up will only make many fans, especially those of Singaporean player iceiceice, even sadder.
Will iceiceice leave SEA or even retire now that the team has disbanded? Will Black^ go back to being an analyst? Be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments down below.
