Car industry giant Japanese Subaru announced that they will organize a Counter Strike: Global Offensive tournament – the Subaru Invitational 2017!
It is great to see that such a major industry branch recognizes the potential of esports. It certainly makes us happy to see them invest their time and money in gaming industry and create the Subaru Invitational 2017!
The Japanese company, or more precisely it’s North American headquarters, made a decision to organize a Counter Stike: Global Offensive tournament. They have not yet assumed the role of sponsors or partners for certain esports teams. However, this is their first step in entering the esports market. They probably want to carefully enquire into this, to them currently, unknown territory. The Subaru Invitational 2017 will take place on 13th and 14th of May, and is to host eight of the best NA teams, who will be directly invited to this event.
One of the goals of the campaign is to promote their”Subaru Imperza” car model, which has the same target group as esports audience, specifically people of age between 16 and 34. Eric Park, marketing manager of company Subaru, states that his company recognized the love and passion that young people nourish towards esports nowadays. He adds that in this way they want to announce their more active presence in this industry. Subaru realizes there is plenty of unused potential that revolves around gaming and esports.
Subaru Invitational 2017 – $20,000
The tournament has prize pool of $20,000 USD, and besides that Subaru will donate $1,000 to the Anxiety Gaming organization. This is an organization helps young gamers who are troubled by anxiety and depression. Hats off to Subaru for recognizing the importance of such problems and taking concrete actions to prevent this issue.
Subaru’s actions deserve commendation, but we can’t help but notice that recent similar recent events have influenced their point of view. Actually, Audi sponsored Astralis with a significant $750,000, and their officials have already rated this partnership as very successful. Investment quickly pays off, with over 25 million views of Audi’s ads on Astralis’ social network profiles, along with over 160,000 commercials broadcasted via Astralis’ twitch channel.
