Heading into the NA LCS 2018 Week 9, we already know that 4 teams have qualified for the playoffs, but don’t expect this to mean that they’ll play any differently, however. You can bet your proverbial bottom dollar that the already qualified teams will try to make statements in the final games of the regular split.
For the teams not qualified yet, there is still everything to play for. This would be the first time TSM haven’t qualified for the playoffs in a long time. However, they simply need to beat CLG (and end CLG’s playoff hopes) or Golden Guardians to qualify. CLG would need a miracle run of beating both TSM and Optic, and then again beat TSM in a tie-breaker (if TSM loses vs. GG tomorrow). Unlikely, but not impossible.
Spring Split NA LCS 2018 Week 9 – The Games
With all that aside, let’s have a look at some odds and some games to watch in the Spring Split NA LCS 2018 Week 9:
100 Thieves vs. Clutch Gaming – 1.90 vs. 1.80
This isn’t really one to bet on but will be an incredibly interesting match to watch. Both teams are currently locked into the playoffs and will use this game as an exhibition match to show their dominance. A lot of questions are being asked of Meteos, and should he continue to be unreliable, we may see Levi brought in to replace him.
The change would make sense, as Levi does have the potential to completely flip the NA LCS on its head, judging by his performances at the infamous Gigabyte Marines. Clutch looked weak at first, but have had an incredible run of performances after their first few weeks. Expect a contest and an exciting one at that.
Golden Guardians vs. – TSM 3.10 vs. 1.32
The bookies seem to agree, that the chance of TSM capitulating vs. the Golden Guardians far outweighs TSM’s prowess. Just look at the season they’ve had, and you’ll see that TSM are no-where near the strength they’ve been at in previous splits. That is why the odds for them to beat TSM are sitting at 3.10.
This is definitely worth a bet, as you could easily triple your stake, thanks to TSM’s general lacklustre performances in the split so far. However, we could also see Bjgergsen turn on the magic switch and start to completely dominate his lane. It will be a toughly fought affair, Golden Guardian’s having nothing to lose, and TSM having everything.
CLG vs. TSM – 2.05 vs. 1.70
Another game with odds in favour of TSM, but only just. Just a few weeks ago TSM to beat Golden Guardians was something like 8:1, 2.05:1.70 are very low odds in TSM’s favour. The bookies have finally come round to the fact that TSM aren’t an unstoppable machine, which many bookies seemed to think all throughout the split. In particular, the potential pressure of this final game (should TSM lose to GG) is astronomical.
This could quite literally be the most important game of some of these players’ careers so far. For, TSM not to make the playoffs would be an absolute failure for the management, and for this new roster. Furthermore, CLG are still a very similar squad to what they’ve been for many years now, and this squad has beaten TSM in the past. This will be an interesting game for sure, especially if TSM lose to Golden Guardians tomorrow.
Team Liquid vs. Optic Gaming – 1.35 vs. 2.95
If Liquid lose against C9 on Saturday, this game will be another incredibly important one. The bookies again think that capitulation against a weaker team with nothing to lose will work against Liquid. If they can’t manage to beat C9 then just like TSM vs. CLG this game is incredibly important.
This roster was, on most people’s eyes, one of the top tier teams at the beginning of the split. The owners will want a play-off spot, and this game may be the one to give it to them. However, expect Optic to not go down without a fight (and some crazy, off-meta play).
