SL i-League Invitational Season 4 (Day 1) – Odds, Analysis, Picks

Day 1 of the SL i-League Invitational Season 4 is finally set to kick off tomorrow with the Group A matchups between LGD Gaming and compLexity Gaming, as well as Team Liquid and Infamous, and finally, to end the day, another best-of-three series that will decide which of the winning teams in the earlier matches will advance to the playoffs and earn top seed in Group A.

With Team Liquid leading the group, this’ll be easy pickings. Or so most people will think. Although the reigning TI champions — and defending Starladder i-League Champions — have been nigh untouchable this season, members of the fraternity know all too well not to count teams out before the games have even started.

LGD Gaming vs CompLexity Gaming

Match Schedule: February 1 (0500H / 05:00 AM CET)

The odds aren’t exactly too kind to compLexity Gaming. Though, I suppose you can’t exactly blame bookmakers too much. The North American squad haven’t exactly performed well lately. And when you consider how relatively easier the competition in North America is compared to China, calling a team the third-best Dota 2 team in China carries a lot of weight, which is something that LGD Gaming can claim for themselves.

LGD Gaming’s latest squad have yet to play together in an international LAN. So, there is a huge chance that first-time jitters could get the best of them. That certainly was the case for both ViCi Gaming and Newbee at Season 3 of the SL i-League Invitational when both squads finished without even winning a single game. But that was then, and this LGD Gaming squad, despite their relative inexperience playing together, has a lot of talent.

Betting: LGD Gaming to win 2-1 at 2.45 odds (ArcaneBet)

Team Liquid vs Infamous

Match Schedule: February 1 (0800H / 08:00 AM)

Can Infamous upset Team Liquid? Well, we’re not saying there’s 0% chance, but all we’re saying that the chances are slim. The reigining TI champions, after all, have very seldom lost a single game all throughout the season to teams that they’re supposed to beat. In fact, they hav every seldom lost, so to pencil them in for an upset is just downright foolish.

Betting: Team Liquid handicap -1.5 at 1.26 odds (10bet)

Which Team Will Advance to the SL i-League Playoffs?

Normally, predicting matchup results for currently unknown matchups is hard, but Team Liquid makes it easy. Not a single other team in Group A holds a candle to them. Their opponents are either new (LGD Gaming), terribly inconsistent (compLexity Gaming) or just plain outclassed (inFamous).

Regardless of who they will face tomorrow in the upper bracket finals, you can pencil Team Liquid in for a win. Group B is where things get interesting where the matchups are, more or less, even, or at least, not as lopsided.
