Well, after a tough battle – and we all know that EPICENTER was a tough battle – you’d expect to take a trophy home, wouldn’t you? Well, not in Russia, it seems.
A well earned Title…
SK Gaming have had their first major win in some time at EPICENTER, taking home a cool $250,000. It seems that their recent – and as yet tentative – roster change has put the team ‘back in business’. Yes, the addition of boltz from Immortals, even if it seems as yet temporary – is certainly the perfect addition to the SK Gaming side. Boltz put out some amazing plays at EPICENTER, facing off in firefights against Virtus.pro’s toughest players.
It seems that both teams – SK Gaming and Virtus.pro – went all out to prove their worth in an epic 5-match battle that could really have gone either way.
And that was only the Finals
The Brazilian squad defeated FaZe in the group matches – no small feat in an age where FaZe seemed about to dominate the CS:GO universe. FaZe left Moscow swiftly just after the group stage, not waiting for any of the signings and photo-sessions that were supposed to be part of their contract. It seems they were unhappy.
So SK gaming have definitely proved their worth at this event. That said, it seems rather a pity that Russian airport security couldn’t have let the Brazilian squad take their trophy home. But it was seized at the airport. It seems that the trophy had a bullet design on it that the Russian security people found… unpleasant? Offensive? Un-Russian? Unethical?
Whatever the reason, they impounded the trophy
This is what FalleN had to say about the incident on twitter…
Trophy had “bullets” in it and unfortunately for now it is stuck at the russian airport ;/ working to get it back ! Save us spatsibaaaa
Will the team get it back? Possibly
When? No one knows. Someday, somewhere.
For now, SK Gaming will have to wait before showing off the trophy to friends and family… or the world at large.
