We had some very interesting plays in the Quarterfinals, and look to some even more interesting matches as this event moves into the Semi Finals. Cloud9, Astralis, FaZe Clan and North have all qualified for the event, and will face off today. Interestingly, all the teams who qualified defeated their opponents 2-0 in BO3 matches.

Semi Finals – Cloud9 vs Astralis

ELEAGUE Semi Finals - cloud9 vs astralis

(October 12, 2017 – 14:00 EDT)

Cloud9 defeated G2 Esports to qualify for the Semifinals. Cloud9 won Cobblestone (16:12) and Inferno (16:8). As the only team from North America to dominate in this event, Cloud9 have been showing some excellent play. They are now only a step away from the Finals.

Astralis have also been doing well – they crushed Fnatic, payback for Fnatic’s defeating them in the ESL Pro League. Astralis won both matches played against Fnatic, winning Train (16:5) and Overpass (16:12)

If we compare Cloud9’s and Fnatic’s round-by-round wins in recent matches, we find that Cloud9 have won 32 out of 52 rounds played, and have a win-rate of 61%. Astralis, on the other hand have won 32 out of 49 rounds played – that gives them a win-rate of 65%.

That’s not much of a difference. You see that both these teams might be winning matches, but just barely.

On the other hand, if we compare their performances in BO3 matches there’s quite a difference. Out of 6 BO3 matches played in the past few weeks, Astralis won 50% of them. Cloud9 played 11 BO3 matches and won 7 of them – this gives them a 64% win-rate.

That still doesn’t skew the odds in favor of Cloud9! Here’s why… After defeating G2 Esports, Cloud9 fought against Team Liquid in EPICENTER 2017, and lost the first two matches in a BO3 battle. Also, most of Cloud9’s BO3 victories were against teams of the same caliber, or against lesser teams. Except for their victory against G2 Esports.

These teams are as equal as two teams can be. We suggest taking your time over choosing a winner if you choose to bet on this match. FaZe Clan have a much better chance of a victory in the next match, so we suggest you put your money there!

FaZe Clan won 7 out of 8 BO3 matches, which represents a win-rate of 88%. North have 7 wins out of 9 in BO3 matches, which gives North a win-rate of 78%.
