RobbaN Steps Down as FaZe Clan Head Coach - Esportsranks
RobbaN Steps Down as FaZe Clan Head Coach

FaZe Clan head coach, Robert ‘RobbaN‘ Dahlström, has stepped down from his position on Saturday, the team announced.

This surprising move comes just a month after FaZe Clan decided to let go of their former in-game leader Finn ‘karrigan‘ Andersen.

“In February of 2016, as FaZe Clan first entered Counter Strike, we brought on @FaZeRobbaN as our Coach and he has been instrumental to this day in helping us build Champions.” FaZe Clan said in their announcement. “Today, RobbaN announced he is stepping down as Head Coach.”

In his statement, RobbaN cites his decision to step down as head honcho of FaZe Clan based on the difficulties he faced between traveling and being a father following the birth of his second child in September of 2018. He added, however, that he will continue to work with FaZe Clan, albeit at a different capacity that he will announce soon.

RobbaN first joined FaZe Clan when they first formed their Counter-Strike: Global Offensive squad. In nearly three years with the team, he has guided FaZe Clan to five LAN titles, as well as multiple second-place finishes. However, for all his success as a head coach, he has been unable to lead FaZe Clan to a Major title, coming close only once at the ELEAGUE Major in Boston in January of 2018, where they lost to Cloud9 in the Grand Finals.

FaZe Clan have yet to announce a new head coach yet. However, they will probably make the announcement soon considering that the Katowice Major is only two months away. At present, FaZe Clan are ranked as the sixth-best CS:GO team in the world in the latest HLTV rankings.

RobbaN Out, YNk In (?)

Expect the burden of expectations to fall on whoever will replace RobbaN as head coach of FaZe Clan. (FaZe Clan)

With RobbaN officially stepping down from the team, it’s highly likely that the earlier rumors about Janko ‘YNk’ Paunović joining FaZe Clan as their head coach were true. The former MIBR coach became a free agent after MIBR traded Jacky ‘Stewie2K‘ Yip to Team Liquid for Epitácio ‘TACO‘ de Melo and Wilton ‘zews‘ Prado.

FaZe Clan have also yet to announce who their fifth member is. However, judging from the numerous rumors and leaks, it’s highly likely that their signing of Dauren ‘AdreN‘ kystaubayev is all but a done deal already.

Either way, regardless of whether the rumors are true or not, whoever will replace RobbaN and karrigan, will have a tough road ahead of them.

Despite having only had a CS:GO roster for three years, FaZe Clan have taken no time asserting themselves as one of the best teams in the scene. Although they battled roster instability, as well as chemistry issues, and did not have as much success in 2018 as they did in 2017, FaZe Clan still remained among the five best CS:GO teams for most of the year.

Anyone coming in to take FaZe Clan’s vacant roster spots will have to do their very best, otherwise, they’ll become an escape goat if FaZe Clan doesn’t perform up to expectations.

FaZe Clan will debut their latest lineup at the iBUYPOWER Masters IV on January 19-20 in Los Angeles.
