Pinnacle offers the best betting lines in the industry, and are an excellent site for the experienced punter. They get a 3.6 because they don't cover the full range of esports, and because a number of countries cannot (officially) play on the site.3.6
Pinnacle are one of the most innovative and fastest-growing betting sites today, and there are excellent reasons for this. Pinnacle have taken a very different approach from the norm to attract their dedicated clientele. While most other betting sites offer bonuses, and these bonuses need to be played and replayed an unrealistic number of times, Pinnacle offers superior betting lines and utter, stone-cold reliability. As an operation, Pinnacle’s methods and reputation are to be envied. Pinnacle are all about volume, which means that the company accepts a reduced profit margin to increase volume.
Just how much volume are we talking about here?
Some analysts estimate that the company takes in a billion US dollars or more in terms of revenue. However, their operations remain intriguingly low-key. You’ll almost never see a Pinnacle advertisement, and they don’t bother with promotional offers. They know that the betting lines that they offer are among the best in the world, and that’s more than sufficient to draw experienced bettors.
The company is licensed from the Antilles. While the site do their best to serve an international clientele, customers from certain countries cannot play on the site. We’ll go into that in more detail a little later, as well as go into how Pinnacle can afford such excellent betting lines. For now, let’s take a look at how the site does in our analysts’ ratings.
Pinnacle Review – Esports Betting Ratings
Games on Offer – 3/5
Pinnacle has been working intensely to expand their esports markets, and the games they cover offer great betting lines, allowing veteran bettors to turn out much higher gains on their stakes than on most other sites. That said, while Pinnacle is a large site with lots of betting pools, its esports selection still leaves much to be desired. The site basically offers the most common esports, including CS:GO, League of Legends, Dota 2, Overwatch, Rocket League and StarCraft 2, and not much more.
The site doesn’t even promise PUBG, for example. However, among the games they cover, Pinnacle offer the widest range of events, including events from across the globe.
Nevertheless, there’s a lack of interesting markets
That’s why the site gets a 3/5 here – for lack of variety. That said, their betting lines are unparalleled, and if you’re interested in betting on the games mentioned above, and confident of your choices, this site offers the best possible lines on those games. It’s a great site for an experienced bettor to maximize their profits. This is accentuated by the fact that Pinnacle doesn’t ban winners, and don’t have upper limits on bets placed on most markets. Another very important point is that independent assessors have judged Pinnacle’s total payouts to bettors to be some of the highest in the industry. All in all, a very good deal, even if limited in variety.
Ease of Use – 4/5
The Pinnacle site uses an engine common among many betting sites, and so is just as easy to use as most of them. Most betting websites are extremely intuitive, and they need to be, to service the wide range of their clientele. Pinnacle is just as good as any of them. However, we find no special innovation in their interface, which is very no-frills. While this is perfectly acceptable, and perfectly easy-to-use, it’s also not exceptional.
Customer Service – 3/5
Pinnacle’s customer service is bare-bones email only. This is actually not quite as bad as it might sound, as they are really quite efficient. However, many of their customers don’t like it that they don’t have the ability to phone in with a complaint, or use live chat, which many other bookmaker sites offer.
Pinnacle explain the email-only support option by saying that it helps to drive costs down, allowing them to offer better margins on bets, which in turn helps them maintain the best betting lines in the industry. That’s a perfectly reasonable explanation, and the email-only customer support is perfectly fine if it directly results in bigger profits for bettors, as it certainly does. Pinnacle wins hands down as the site that makes the biggest payouts to its bettors worldwide.
A no-frills approach
Pinnacle’s no-frills approach means that operations are so simple that there’s usually little or no reason to contact their customer support – and that’s always the best indicator of a well-run site. You play on Pinnacle. You win, or you lose. If you win, you get paid. That’s it. There are no complications, such as rolling bonuses. It’s as simple as it can get, so the customer support is really more or less redundant.
When you do have to contact them – and we did, in a test case – they’re very helpful. Issues are resolved quickly and to the very best of their ability. So as far as that goes, it’s quite satisfactory.
Deposits and Withdrawals – 5/5
The currencies handled, and the payment and withdrawal options on this site are a standard for the entire betting industry to emulate. Yes, this site certainly deserves a 5/5 for their currency options, because they support perhaps the widest range of currencies and withdrawal and deposit options in the world. The wide range they offer here directly benefits the site, because it means they can draw customers from everywhere on the planet. Asian clients, for example, can use local options such as ChinaBanking, Entropay and Webmoney, as well as local Chinese cards, while clients from Australia can use POLi, while customers from Poland can use the local Przelewy24. Those were just examples.
The complete list of currencies handled by the site
The currencies the site handles include USD and GBP, as well as EUR, CAD, AUD, DKK, CZK, HKD, MYR, JPY, NZD, MXP, PLN, NOK, SGB, RUB, SEK, KRW, THB and TWP.
Payment and withdrawal options offered
The site offers all the usual payment and withdrawal options and quite a few non-standard ones. Mastercard and Visa are on the menu, of course, as are Skrill and Neteller. There are a great many internet and online banking facilities besides. Best of all, the site offers a free monthly withdrawal that can go a long way towards cutting any unnecessary drain on your profits. We’ll do a short enumeration of the payment options this site provides.
Besides MasterCard and Visa, you can use bank wires, for which you need to make a minimum deposit of ten dollars. Besides that, you can use Neteller, WebMoney, ClickandBuy and Moneybookers. POLi, Przelewy24 and Visa Electron are local options that have the advantage of instant transfers. Idebit is another option the site offers, as well as Chinese and Delta debit cards, and instantaneous transfers through InstaDebit. Withdrawals are through some of the most common of those options. All in all, very satisfactory.
International Support – 3/5
The Site supports a vast variety of languages. Besides the major language groups, such as English, French, German, Spanish, Russian and Chinese, it also supports Czech, Finnish, Italian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Swedish, Hebrew, Japanese and Korean. That’s a spread of languages supported that beats many sites in the business.
Countries that cannot play on the site
People from a slew of countries are prevented from playing on the site. This is actually not the fault of the management of the site, but of local laws that clash with the site’s constitution, but the result is the same. If you’re a resident of the USA, the United Kingdom or the Republic of Ireland, you cannot bet on the site. Similarly, residents of France, Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands, Poland and Turkey cannot play on the site.
This is actually quite weird, as the site supports currencies and local payment methods from some of these countries. Do note that sometimes, though a country may be ‘banned’ on the site, you can still play from it. Also note that the site offers odds on sports even from countries whose residents supposedly cannot play on it. As an example, there are odds on American football pools, and on esports tournaments held in Poland.
All in all, our review gives Pinnacle a total rating of 3.6. The rating is lower than it should be, because of the lack of variety in esports, and because residents of some countries cannot play on the site. However, if you can play on this site, and are an experienced bettor, this is a site worth playing on, and very reliable.
Now, let’s take a look at everything that makes Pinnacle what it is. One of the most interesting things about Pinnacle is how they maintain betting lines that are among the best in the business.
What makes Pinnacle’s Betting Lines the best?
We’ve seen that competing betting sites online tend to try to acquire a client pool by offering bonuses when a person signs up. These could be actual cash, or in the form of free bonus bets. However, most betting sites then require these bonuses to be rolled over anything from six to twelve times, or even more. This usually means that most bettors will ultimately lose the bonus the site gives them, unless they’re very good at picking winners every time. Pinnacle doesn’t do this. Instead, they sacrifice a little of their profit margin instead.
This is just what an experienced bettor searches for, because real profits in betting can be massively enhanced by a better betting line.
So how does Pinnacle’s sacrificing their profits help their betting line?
Every gambling site works a little profit into the betting lines that they offer. In the case of most gambling sites, this profit margin can run to about six percent. In Pinnacle’s case, the profit margins are rarely more than two percent. What this means, in short, is that instead of taking 4% profit, Pinnacle instead hands that over to the bettors, for most practical purposes. This means that more veteran bettors (who always notice such things) head for their site, allowing them to make up in volume what they lose in profit-per-bet. And in any business, volume is what counts – Pinnacle’s turnover exceeds a billion dollars.
Pinnacle are on top of the game
The sort of advantage that Pinnacle offers bettors is called a ‘reduced juice’ bet. Juice is the profit margin added to a betting line. It goes without saying that reduced juice means less profit for the bookmaker and more profit for the bettor. So how do Pinnacle handle this? Well, most betting lines are based on estimates of how a game will go. The bookmaker offers a betting line that is based on their estimates of how the game will go, along with their profit margins, and a small ‘safe buffer’ that reduces their losses if their estimations go wrong.
Bookmakers don’t usually like to reduce their profit margins and safety buffers, because if they were to make a mistake, it could endanger their ‘bank’, that is to say, the financial stability of their entire site. Pinnacle’s team are ice-cold analysts who almost never make a mistake in their estimations, and they have such faith in their own estimates and ability to predict results that they are willing to cut much further into their profit margins and safe buffers than other sites in the business.
And they are almost never wrong, so go up against the team their odds are favoring at your own risk. But if you’re willing to bet with their odds, and play sensibly, you can watch your profits multiply exponentially. In short, Pinnacle is the site for the sensible, no-nonsense, veteran bettor.
High betting limits and no limitations on winners
One thing that is massively in favor of Pinnacle is that they have very high maximum limits on bets – on par with the highest in the industry, actually. Another thing that is considerably in favor of them is that they don’t ban or place limits on winners.
Is that an issue?
If you’re a veteran betting man, you know it is. Many betting sites are willing enough to take your money through a string of losses, but if you follow that up with a string of wins, you’ll quickly find yourself placed under unworkable betting limits or even banned. This does not happen at Pinnacle, where betting limits are high, and the site welcomes winners.
Betting limits that are among the highest in the industry are an added convenience for the veteran bettor at Pinnacle. Pinnacle’s lines are posted fairly early, and at that point have small limits. As a match grows closer, the lines are refined, based on many complicated factors, including, of course, how the actual betting is ‘flowing’. The final limits are exceptionally high, because the site’s analysts are sure of their odds, and of how an event is likely to go.
A focus on esports betting
Pinnacle have been focusing to a considerable extent on esports, and while they only offer the most popular esports at the moment, they do offer the widest range of events within those esports, including events from across the globe. Their excellent betting lines mean that their esports section sees a continuous influx of clients, so that esports are at present within the ten largest betting markets on the site.
They had already surpassed one million esports bets three years ago, achieving that number in a bare four years, so what volume of esports bets they get at present can only be imagined. However, while we have no definite information on this, it’s a safe assumption that the site has handled over two million esports bets to the present day. And that is impressive.
Pinnacle’s sportsbook is worth mentioning, even in an esports review, because they offer such good betting lines on most sports. Their betting lines are especially good on American sports, which is rather ironical, since American citizens are ‘officially’ prevented from betting on Pinnacle. The Asian soccer betting line is also exceptional on Pinnacle.
Pros and Cons
- The site has the best betting lines. Pinnacle are virtually the industry standard, with many lesser betting sites copying the shifts in Pinnacle’s markets. This is certainly the site for the experienced veteran bettor to lock down profits on.
- Pinnacle have a perfect record as far as payouts and withdrawals are concerned.
- They have the highest maximum betting limits, industry-wide.
- They do not ban or limit winners. This actually helps the site, as their markets are then shaped by the brightest and most experienced bettors in the industry.
- They deal in vast volumes, allowing them to lock down profits across all markets, leading to a very stable bank.
- Pinnacle is reasonably innovative. They were one of the first online sportsbooks to cover esports. They presently offer markets in sports that other bookmakers either do not cover, or are reluctant to cover.
- Pinnacle also offer articles and training on balanced and successful betting, and their blog is not just a means of attracting search engine traffic. Many of their articles are of value to the average bettor, and can help reduce losses.
- If you bet on Pinnacle, you need to remember that they are very sharp. If you go against their odds, and bet on the underdog, you do so at your own risk and are likely to lose. The simple fact is that Pinnacle are able to maintain their low margins and offer such good deals to winners because they have the whole game locked down cold, and if you bet against them, you’re likely to lose. This goes against many betting men’s philosophies, who love long odds because those odds give them the most ‘bang for their buck’. However, on Pinnacle, if you’re seeing long odds on a team, you should know that those long odds reflect not only the opinion of Pinnacle’s own ice-cold analyst team, but also the opinions and bets of hundreds of utterly sharp veteran bettors. It’s better to go with Pinnacle’s odds and place money on the winning team for a smaller profit, than go against them every time, and have them take the shirt off your back. These people are sharp. This is a site for veterans. Respect that, and you’ll make a lot of money there.
Other small deficiencies in Pinnacle
- They don’t have sufficient variety in their markets. You’ll get all the regular markets for all the most popular sports and esports. But don’t expect exotic markets, such as some other sites offer, especially sites dedicated to esports. You won’t find those on Pinnacle.
- There’s no Bonus, no Reload Bonus, no Loyalty program, no nothing. You get a great, unmatched deal on the betting lines, which is all that any truly experienced bettor is concerned about. For the rest, promotions and stuff, nada. Seek these elsewhere.
All in all, a great site to bet on, and a great site to make incredible and regular profits from. This is the optimum site for the regular, no-nonsense gambling man – or woman.
