Planet Dog to play Under Hellraisers Dota Banner at TI7

The sponsorless Planet Dog have now found an org and will be playing under the Hellraisers Dota banner at The International 7.

Wykrhm Reddy, a prominent figure within the Dota scene, first broke the news earlier today.

Hellraisers Dota Returns To The Scene

Prior to the pickup, many fans had already hoped that Cloud9 would pick up Planet Dog. Especially after the team’s captain, Alexei ‘j4’ Lipai, revealed in an interview that he was a big fan of the organisation.

Yet, it was Hellraisers who swooped in and sponsored the team.

Although a well-known CIS organisation, Hellraisers have not fielded a Dota 2 roster in over a year. The organisation last had a squad in March of 2016, which they had dropped due to the team’s lack of success.

We have yet to get a hold of further details regarding the sponsorship. However, it’s safe to assume that what happened was that the organisation paid the team a lump sum of money to play under the Hellraisers Dota banner at TI.

It’s a logical move for both parties; the players get some money in their pockets while Hellraisers get themselves a lot of brand exposure at one of the biggest Esports events of the year.

With that said, it wouldn’t come off as a surprise if Planet Dog parts ways with the organisation as soon as The International 7 is over.

Planet Dog came to be a day after Prodota Gaming dropped their Dota 2 roster citing “internal issues” as the main reason.

Four of the five players decided to form the now TI7-bound team with their fifth member being Uros ‘Swiftending’ Galic, Milan ‘MiLAN’ Kozomara’s former teammate with Elements One.

Despite having no sponsor, Planet Dog decided to brave the TI7 EU Open Qualifiers, securing a spot at the main qualifiers in their second try.
