Peter Dager and Zai Leave Evil Geniuses

Evil Geniuses will move on to the new season with a new look as an organisation and as a team after announcing the departures of their CEO Peter Dager and position 4 player Ludwig zai‘ Wåhlberg via Facebook.

S A D B O Y S No More

Many may credit Clinton ‘Fear’ Loomis as the face of Evil Geniuses. However, it’s worth noting that the North American organisation only started becoming the powerhouse that they are today after picking up Peter Dager and Zai along with the rest of the former S A D B O Y S team.

Zai, 20, has played on and off for Evil Geniuses for the past four years, having left the team for various reasons, from finishing high school to spending some time with Team Secret and Kaipi. Meanwhile, Peter Dager, better known via his in-game monicker, ppd, has spent much of his professional career with Evil Geniuses.

ppd is widely respected by many as one of the game’s most brilliant strategists and captain. His body of work speaks for himself, as Evil Geniuses has never failed to place within the top 3 during his time as captain from TI4 to TI6. He was also the captain of the team when they won TI5.

With their recent depatures, only Saahil ‘UNiVeRsE‘ Arora and Artour ‘Arteezy’ Babaev now remain as active players of the former S A D B OY S team. Fear remains part of Evil Geniuses, but has served as their coach since after his retirement post TI6.

Peter Dager To Return to Competitive Dota (?)

Nearly two weeks ago, someone using an obvious throwaway Reddit account named lgdamefan leaked a couple of roster changes. In particular, noteworthy was him leaking that Fear would return to playing professionally. Albeit, this time around, he would be playing as a position 5 support and presumably assume the role of Evil Geniuses captain. Meanwhile, he also leaked that ppd and Zai would be teaming up with a number of known free agent names to form an unnamed team.

The rumored PPD stack would consist of the following members:

  • Pers Anders Olsson ‘Pajkatt Lille
  • Quinn ‘CC&C‘ Callahan
  • Ludwig ‘zai’ Wåhlberg
  • Rasmus ‘MiSeRy‘ Filipsen
  • Peter ‘ppd Dager

So far, lgdamefan’s leaks have proven true. He was one of the first to reveal information of Fnatic’s newest roster. And, with three players of Peter Dager’s rumored stack currently teamless, all signs point to a new star-studded lineup for the upcoming season.

Where do you think PPD and Zai will go next? Do you think the rumored PPD stack is true? Be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments down below.
