OpTic Gaming and paIN Gaming sweep their opponents in each of their Regional Qualifiers to qualify for Galaxy Battles Season 2. This makes them the 12th and 13th team to qualify for the first Major of 2018, which is set to be held in January in the Philippines Arena, Philippines.
With that said, the lineup for Galaxy Battles Season 2 is now nearly set. Only the Regional Qualifiers for China and the Wild Cards remain for us to get the full list of 16 teams participating in the third Major of the season.

For Peter ‘ppd‘ Dager and OpTic Gaming, the win gives them their first Major berth this season. This is huge, given the discrepancy in points between Minors and Majors. A Top 4 run at Galaxy Battles Season 2 will give them a fair amount of Qualifying Points for The International 8. The fact that it came against ppd’s longtime rival, Kyle ‘Kyle‘ Freedman and CompLexity Gaming, who have failed their attempts of qualifying many times over before, only makes the win all the sweeter.

Speaking of firsts, paIN Gaming should relish this opportunity. Because of how relatively tight competition is in South America right now, they’ll need every chance they can get. The only question now is if they’ll manage to stick together until then. If they do, they’re definitely a team to watch out for; 3 of their members were part of the SG e-sports squad that upset Team Secret and gave Evil Geniuses a good run for their money at the Kiev Major.
