NiP Outlast EHOME to Win OGA Dota Pit Minor 2019

Ninjas in Pyjamas will be going to the MDL Disneyland Paris Major after winning the OGA Dota Pit Minor 2019.

With the win, Ninjas in Pyjamas met our earlier expectations. However, the way they did it is far from expected. Initially believed to be one of the best Dota 2 teams in the tournament, Ninjas in Pyjamas struggled in the Group Stages. But, after going 4-5 during the initial phase of the OGA Dota Pit Minor 2019, Ninjas in Pyjamas started buckling down and came up big during the playoffs.

Ninjas in Pyjamas would not drop a single game for much of the OGA Dota Pit Minor 2019 playoffs. It wasn’t until the Grand Final that they exchanged wins against EHOME in a grueling five-game series. Eventually, Ninjas in Pyjamas would take the time after a nail-biting series-clincher in Game 5 that lasted well over an hour.

Despite starting off the tournament on the wrote note, both Adrian ‘Fata‘ Trinks and Marcus ‘Ace’ Hoelgaard ended the OGA Dota Pit Minor 2019 as the tournament’s best performers.  However, while the latter had the numbers, the former were arguably the most impactful. His timely rotations and solid laning allowed him to make an impact on the entire map. This gave Ace a lot of space to farm. Also worthy of praise is the performance of Neta ‘33‘ Shapira, who seems to have finally found his groove and performed well on a variety of heroes, including Doom.

Ninjas in Pyjamas will pocket $125,000 from their point, as well as 120 DPC points. More importantly, Ninjas in Pyjamas will round out the MDL Disneyland Paris Major on May 4-12.

A Return to Form for Ninjas in Pyjamas

OGA Dota Pit Minor 2019

Often blamed whenever Ninjas in Pyjamas struggled, Ace proved at the OGA Dota Pit Minor 2019 just how integral he is to the team’s success. (Ninjas in Pyjamas)

This is just but a start for Ninjas in Pyjamas.

Billed as one of the powerhouses in the scene, Ninjas in Pyjamas have failed to meet expectations since placing fourth at the Kuala Lumpur Major last year. Everything came crashing down on the European mix after they failed to qualify for the Chongqing Major and had an abysmal showing at the DreamLeague Season 11 Major. But, after taking nearly the entire season to finally find themselves, it certainly seems like Ninjas in Pyjamas are finally rounding into mid-season form.

The timing could not have been more perfect for Ninjas in Pyjamas.

At 1,690 points, Ninjas in Pyjamas are currently ranked #7 of the 2018-19 Dota Pro Circuit. A good showing at the MDL Disneyland Paris Major, the fourth Dota 2 Major of the 2018-19 Dota Pro Circuit, will likely guarantee them a direct invite to The International 2019 in August.

While it’s still too early to say that Ninjas in Pyjamas will perform at the Major, the way they played at the OGA Dota Pit Minor 2019 was encouraging, to say the least.

EHOME Do Well Sans Faith_bian

OGA Dota Pit Minor 2019

Once EHOME gets Faith_bian back, expect the team to start living up to the potential they showed earlier this season. (EHOME)

EHOME started off 2019 as THE Dota 2 team watch, winning the Bucharest Minor before going on a deep run at the Chongqing Major. However, since losing TI6 champion, Zhang ‘Faith_bian‘ Ruida, to injury and other roster issues, EHOME have struggled to find their footing. It also didn’t help EHOME that they played at the most competitive region in Dota 2 right now, with China home to the likes of Vici Gaming and PSG.LGD, as well as Keen Gaming, and more.

But, if their showing at the OGA Dota Pit Minor 2019 is anything to go by, EHOME are doing fine.

Yes, EHOME did not win. However, they did come second place. They also now have 549 points to their name, which is good for 11th place on the leaderboards.

With Faith_bian set to return soon, Zhang ‘xiaao8‘ Ning can finally return back to his post as the team’s coach and find a way to bring EHOME back to the top.

What’s Next?

Following the conclusion of the OGA Dota Pit Minor 2019, Ninjas in Pyjamas are set to join fifteen other Dota 2 teams at the MDL Disneyland Paris Major.

The fourth Dota 2 Major of the 2018-19 Dota Pro Circuit, the MDL Disneyland Paris Major is set to feature the season’s most stacked lineup yet, featuring all three of the previous Major winners as well as the reigning The International 2018 champions, OG, in their Major debut.

The MDL Disneyland Paris Major will run from May 4 to May 12, with the final four days being played in front of a live crowd at the Disney® Events Arena in Disneyland, Paris.
