Details of New Dota 2 Hero Found in Latest Dota 2 Patch

Keen-eyed observers who were greeted by an unusually large patch with no significant additions found data suggesting that a new Dota 2 hero is about to enter the foray real soon.

Valve recently amped up their efforts as far as releasing a new Dota 2 hero goes. Instead of releasing just one at a time, Valve recently released two new heroes along with the “Dueling Fates” update. And, similar to how hawk-eyed fans found details both the Pangolier and Dark Willow added to the game months before they were officially unveiled, fans again recently uncovered details of the new Dota 2 hero.

God of War = New Dota 2 Hero

The details are scant as far as the new Dota 2 hero goes. What we only know so far is that the hero is internally referred to as “Mars”. Though when you consider that Zeus is another hero based on the Greek god of the same name, it’s not far-fetched for Valve to draw inspiration from a similarly iconic pantheon of gods.

There are further evidence to support this as well. For one, data miners have found icons for two spells named “mars_phalanx_cancel” and “mars_spear”. But, of course, the name Mars could easily just be an internal name. Lest we forget, Dark Willow, one of the new Dota 2 heroes, was named Slyph in the game’s codes.

With only so little to go on for now, we can only speculate. However, what we can be sure of is that Valve intends on staying true to their earlier promise that they would “move a lot quicker on new hero development”.

Until further details come up, we can at least take delight in the fact that we can finally see the two new Dota 2 heroes in action at the Captains Draft Minor in less than 24 hours.

What do you think of the new Dota 2 hero? Is it going to be related to the god of war? Or will it be something else, like perhaps, Sorla Khan, the bloodthirsty warmonger who took over Mogul Khan (Axe) and his army? Be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments down below.
