It’s time for the NA LCS Week 9. That means it’s the final week before playoffs begin! What a week it will be, the bottom of the league is currently in a three-way tie, and the top of the league is in a two way split.
Immortals look to be favourites for that coveted top spot, with easy games against Team Envy and Echo Fox. Meanwhile, TSM must beat CLG and hope Immortals drop a game if they want to be victorious.
NA LCS Week 9 Day 1 Friday (August 4th)
Team Envy vs Immortals – Odds: 2.40/1.50
Both teams have already secured their playoff spot, but winning this series will ensure Immortals a first round bye. Immortals will also want that first place position, Team Envy is the second to last obstacle in their way of securing just that.
Team Dignitas vs Counter Logic Gaming – Odds: 1.95/1.75
Losing right before playoffs is not where either side wants to be. However, CLG faces a battle of inconsistency having lost to bottom place Phoenix1 just last week. If they want to dismiss the worries of their fans nothing less than total victory will ensure it. A good performance by Omargod will also help.
For their part, Team Dignitas could leap frog CLG into third position if they can win this series.
NA LCS Week 9 Day 2 Saturday (August 5th)
Phoenix1 vs Team SoloMid – Odds: 3.35/1.28
Phoenix1 will need to prove their win against CLG was no fluke if they wish to avoid the promotion tournament and a possible relegation from the LCS. Equally, TSM is playing for the first spot and a playoff bye. They won’t be pulling their punches. It should be an exciting game, but it may be very one sided.
Team Envy vs Cloud9 – Odds: 2.30/1.50
In recent weeks Cloud9 have discovered a little bit of their old shine. It should be enough to win this mid table brawl as both teams battle to secure the best playoff spot possible. In such a close season there’s no easy way to call the game, although the bookies obviously have their favourite.
Echo Fox vs Immortals – Odds: 3.35/1.28
On paper, it’s a sure win for Immortals. They did look a little vulnerable in the LCS week 8 so Echo Fox will be pushing to see if they can break through and grab a victory. Another must win for both sides, one playing for total victory and the other for survival.
FlyQuest vs Team Liquid – Odds: 1.90/1.80
It’s the last chance for both teams. One must rise and one must fall. Both teams will want to put this season behind them, the first step on the long path of doing that is a victory against their rivals.
NA LCS Week 9 Day 3 Sunday (August 6th)
Cloud 9 vs Echo Fox – Odds: 1.32/3.10
The odds are in Cloud9’s favour and that’s unfortunate for Echo Fox. It seems they need more than just a little luck if they want to avoid the promotion tournament. Expect some antics from Froggen as he looks to counter Jensen and pull out a victory for the underdogs.
Team Liquid vs Team Dignitas – Odds: 3.35/1.28
Since the second half of the split began Team Dignitas has been on a roll. Team Liquid have their work cut out for them if they want to change that. The unfortunate truth is that Team Liquid have only themselves to blame for the position they find themselves in.
Team SoloMid vs Counter Logic Gaming – Odds: 1.55/2.30
This is the game to watch in the NA LCS week 9 schedule. An old rivalry and another match that neither team can afford to lose. Second, and potentially first place in the Summer Split league is up for grabs. The winner of this series will likely get a bye in the playoffs. The loser has it all to do.
FlyQuest vs Phoenix1 – Odds:2.05/1.70
Another bottom of the table brawl. Both teams need to prove they have what it takes in the LCS. There’s been glimmers of hope throughout the season. What’s needed now is more than a glimmer, it’s a solid result on which they can plant their flag.
NA LCS Week 9 Summary
By night fall of August 6th, we will know which teams face the promotion play offs, and which team can glory in the first place spot. Byes will be decided, and new strategies formed as coaches prepare for the final leg of the Summer Split.
It’s been quite a roller-coaster and I don’t expect that to change.
