The final day of week 4 offered a decent dose of excitement. Esportsranks brings you a closer look into the eventful series that took place. Here’s our full NA LCS 2017 Summer Split Week 4 Recap.
NA LCS 2017 Summer Split Week 4 Recap – Day 3 (June 25)
TSM vs. FOX – 2:0
Echo Fox is on a slow descent ever since their win against EnVy last week. The downward trend continued against a revitalised TSM roster as well. The first game was a rather uneventful 10-4 snooze fest that rolled towards TSM’s side. The second match was a much closer tit for tat battle of wills. Nevertheless, TSM secured a series sweeping win after 35 minutes.
TL vs. P1 – 2:1
A true battle of the underdogs, this was a critical series for both teams. Losing it meant being pushed back to share the last spot of the bracket with FlyQuest. In the end, Team Liquid emerged victorious from the scrap. On the other hand, Phoenix1’s promising Day 1 victory against Echo Fox was just a glimpse of hope that got decidedly shut down in this series.
The first match was a rather narrow win for TL, with both sides slightly tilting the balance scales throughout the game. Second game saw P1’s new jungler, MikeYeung, collecting a total of 9 kills, enabling P1 to score a grinding 50 minute long equalising win. The rubber match was a landslide victory for TL, with a final 27-7 kill score.
C9 vs. DIG – 2:1
Despite a rather uneventful first game loss, C9 really pulled together in this series to stop the chain of mediocre results. In the second match they patiently waited for their opening. They quickly seized the opportunity to gain the gold advantage and game control after dispatching DIG Ssumday and Shrimp to the dead.
Dignitas were unable to turn over the game and were simply ground down into defeat. Last game was an even more convincing show of Cloud9 force, with Jensen and Sneaky both getting legendary killstreaks and suffering 0 deaths.
FLY vs. NV – 1:2
FlyQuest and Phoenix1 are definitely the biggest disappointments of the NA LCS 2017 Summer Split so far. These exact two teams battled it out fiercely for a third spot in the Spring Split. Now, they share an embarrassing last spot in the bracket.
Nevertheless, this was an eventful and exciting series to watch. The first match was an absolute wild rollercoaster ride. FlyQuest handled the chaotic game tempo better and emerged victorious after nerve wracking last moment defence of their base. Wasting no time, they rushed towards EnVy’s Nexus and destroyed it before it was too late.
However, the drama was over there and then. EnVy proceeded to win both the second and third games with complete control of the tempo and flow, as well as much better coordination in teamfight communication. Back-to-back landslide victories shut down FlyQuest’s first game win and sealed the series. Team EnVyUs now sits comfortably in the middle of the bracket, with 4 wins and 4 losses.
