Immortals vs Counter Logic Gaming

It was Counter Logic Gaming who had it all to prove after only narrowly squeaking past Team Envy in the quarterfinals. They started brightly enough, but in the end were unable to even eek out a win in this best of 5 series.

Game 1

Counter Logic Gaming’s best of the 3 games. They garnered more kills than Immortals, but it was Immortals who rarely ceded control of objectives.

Immortals managed 4 dragons and 3 barons in the 45-minute game. On paper Pobelter was Immortal’s only bright spot, finishing 11/3/7 but in reality, it was very much a team effort. They did everything they needed to do and won handily.

Game 2

Game 1 seemed to kill off whatever fight CLG had left in them. Immortals expertly exploited Omargod’s lack of experience. Xmithie was ruthless on his Sejuani and CLG were unable to reach the Kogmaw on the backline.

Although CLG did manage an early dragon, they were never able to do anything with it. Immortals kept a tight hold on the entire game. They went into game 3 knowing a victory would give them the series.

Game 3

Flame dominated in the top lane of game 3. CLG’s bottom duo again found themselves unable to answer their opponents. Game 3 became a lesson in biology as Immortals dissected CLG.

Immortals took the series 3-0 and in convincing fashion. CLG will be left wondering if it was a lack of jungle synergy that led to these defeats or if they should seriously consider re working their bottom duo.

Team Dignitas vs Team SoloMid

A clear case of the giants vs underdogs, this series did not disappoint. It also went as expected, although there were moments of surprises along the way.

Game 1

A good start by Dignitas raised questions about an upset. In the end, Team SoloMid were able to secure a Baron around the 23-minute mark. They rolled up the map from there.

The late game carry ability of TSM’s champs was too much to handle. TSM secured game 1.

Game 2

The second game was over before it ever really began. TSM finished 20 kills to 5. 3 dragons, 1 Baron, 1 Riftherald and 11 towers in under 30 minutes gave a victory that was never in doubt.

Dignitas were left scratching their heads and looking for a strong reply in game 3.

Game 3

Dignitas showed up with an impressive victory, thanks in large part to their top lane. Ssumday was strong in lane and team fights. Shrimp was unstoppable in jungle. The series now stood at 2-1.

Game 4

If there was any question mark over a possible Dignitas come back, it was put to rest early on. TSM proved too much for Dignitas. Major objectives were contested, however, with both teams managing 3 dragons a piece.

TSM did manage to kill 2 Barons and the Elder Dragon, which gave them everything they needed to win the game and the series. 3-1.
