Msdossary Stakes Claim At Top Of FIFA 19 - Esportsranks
Msdossary Stakes Claim At Top Of FIFA 19

The reigning FIFA eWorld Cup Champion, Mossad “Msdossary” Aldossary defeated Nicolas “Nicolas99FC” Villalba 8-3 to win the FUT Champions Cup London – the city of his previous two trophy wins.

With this win, Msdossary regains the form that saw him crowned the best player in the world on FIFA 18. He will take home the lion share of the  $100,000 prize pool and add 1500 Global Series Points to his tally.

The path to the final was far from the easiest, he defeated Donovan “Tekkz” Hunt in the console final – who had won the FUT Champions Cup Bucharest and PGL Cup in previous weeks.

The Console Finals

Tekkz set his stall out in the first game of the day. He made easy work of PSG Dax defeating him 4-0.

Then it was Msdossary vs The Royal. Both players are from Saudi Arabia but there is only one king with Msdossary being the heavy favourite. Of course, Msdossary would win the tie going up 2-0 in the first tie, adding another early in the 2nd. The Royal mounted a comeback but it was too little too late. Msdossary would win 5-2. Setting up a console final versus Tekkz.

It would be a match fitting of a trophy but as both of these players on Xbox it wasn’t to be.

The console final would be a rematch of a game earlier in the tournament when Tekkz had defeated Msdossary 8-3. But it would be Saudi Arabia’s Mossad “Msdossary” Aldossary who would triumph when it mattered most. He went up 2-0 in the first half of game 1, putting the pressure on Tekkz. Tekkz would pull one back but it wasn’t the same free-flowing attacking football we had seen from the Englishmen so far this season.

The 2nd leg was a classic. Tekkz had worked his way into the game going ahead 3-2 on agg, but with the game in the last 5 minutes, Msdossary scored a stunning volley with Pele to level the tie. Eusebio would score a header in extra time to take him into the cross-platform final.

First up on the PlayStation was Nicolas99FC and Stefano Pinna, in a first game, characterized by both players playing with caution, it was Nicolas who squeaked ahead with the game finishing 1-0. Pinna pulled a goal back in the 2nd leg in a game that echoed the first leg. A C.Ronaldo goal for Nicolas put light between him in and the Belgian. Pinna pushed for a goal but it wasn’t to be with the game ending 2-1.

Mohammed “MoAuba” Harkouz vs Yago was the other semi-final. MoAuba showed everyone why he is considered one of the best attackers in the game. He took a 2 goal lead and never lost it, he would go on to win the tie 7-4.

MoAuba would go up 2 nil with Nicolas struggling to get into the game, however, a late goal by C.Ronaldo would prove crucial to Nicolas’ chances. The first leg would end 3-1.

Nicolas came out the blocks in the 2nd leg. Going up 2 goals in the first leg. The tie came alive and the goals came pouring in but the momentum was with Nicolas. The last 20 minutes of this game is as good as a game of FIFA you’ll see. Where the Xbox final was a tactical masterclass, this was all passion and holding your nerve. Nicolas went ahead for the first time in the tie, then with 5 mates remaining MoAuba equalized. Both players had chances to put themselves ahead, but with the last kick of the ball, it would be Nicolas scoring in 90+3 to book himself a place in the cross-platform final.

In a twist of fate, this was very much the final everyone expected back at the FIFA eWorld Cup and it lived up to the hype. Msdossary has proven before that he can play on both consoles and this proved to be the decisive factor.

The PlayStation side was up first and Nicolas took an early led. But Msdossary scored 4 unanswered goals to make the 2nd leg a formality. Nicolas tried his best to stop that from happening but it wasn’t to be. Msdossary won the tie 8-3.

With this win, Msdossary wrote another chapter in the FIFA history books. He is now the only player to win a major across 3 iterations of the game and put to bed any accusations that his skills didn’t translate to FIFA 19.
