A gruelling 3 days in Amsterdam to set who will proceed to the grand finals of the FIFA eWorld Cup has finished for the Xbox division, with Megabit emerging victorious. The German veteran takes home a long-awaited championship, along with 35,000$ in prize money. The FUT Champions Amsterdam playoffs now takes a break for a day, and will continue on Friday with the PS4 division beginning.
Germany wins at last
Megabit ensures that the tradition of FIFA 18 having a German in every single division final continues. Nraseck and TheStrxngeR in Barcelona, and Nrsaeck (again) and Eisvogel in Manchester could not do what Megabit has just done. The champion beat the French league champion, Rafsou, in a tense final, where the Frenchman fought valiantly to try to mount comebacks at every opportunity. In the end, Megabit won with an aggregate score of 7-5.
FUT Champions Amsterdam talking points
The 3 days of play brings us some major talking points. Rafsou was seemingly giant-killing on his way to the finals, as he took out Barcelona Champion (F2Tekkz), Manchester champion (Rogue Msdossary) and current world champion FaZe Gorilla. It really is unfortunate that this fairytale run didn’t have the dream ending. Rafsou has definitely come a long way this year, not letting a poor Barcelona performance dictate the rest of his year.

Msdossary, who left Falcons and joined Rogue just before the tournament, looked to be the favourite early on. He destroyed everyone put in front of him until he came up against the Frenchman. Rafsou seemingly had all the answers to Msdossary’s attacking play, and won 6-4 in the quarterfinals.
6-4 was also the same score which Rafsou beat reigning world champion, and new FaZe team member, Gorilla in the semifinals. FaZe Gorilla employed a tactic of retreating for a long toilet break before each second leg is played. If this use this to compose himself, or put off his opponent, it seemed to work until the semis.
Dani Hagebeuk, official representative of Ajax Amsterdam, gave a strong showing this tournament. The event venue was literally in the shadow of the Amsterdam ArenA, he was clearly the “home team”. Flanked by his own 2 coaches, his mom, and family members, Dani took out recent FIFA eClub World Cup finalist AeroFIFA, and Kurt before falling to Megabit in the semifinals.
