The MDL Disneyland Paris Major 2019 have so far delivered with its fair share of interesting matches and results.
In particular, one series we’re going to be taking a look at is something that most people probably did not expect heading into the tournament.
Team Secret have already secured a Top 6 finish after edging out PSG.LGD in a tightly contested series during the opening rounds of the playoffs, which isn’t exactly far from what most people expected. However, we can’t really say the same regarding Team Secret’s opponents.
OG may be the reigning TI8 champions but they’ve looked like anything but throughout the season. The return of Anathan ‘ana‘ Pham helped OG qualify for the MDL Disneyland Paris Major 2019, their first of the season, but no one expected them to do this well. Yet, here they are, staring down at the possibility at securing a Top 3 finish if they can do what they did to Virtus.Pro to Team Secret.
OG vs Team Secret – What Do The Odds Say?
Team Secret are a 1.29 betting favourite (wager $100 to win $129) to win against OG at the MDL Disneyland Paris Major 2019 according to the sportsbooks monitored by 10bet.com. On the other hand, OG are a bit of a longshot at 3.40 odds (bet $100 to win $340).
While OG are technically the more successful Dota 2 team owing to them winning TI last August, Team Secret are arguably the best team this season.
Despite welcoming two new players for the 2018-19 Dota Pro Circuit, Team Secret improved on their previous season. Their current lineup now hold the second highest LAN winrate of all time with an 84-25 record. This is topped only by Team Zephyr (32-7), who mostly feasted on inferior South Korean competition way back in 2014.
In total, Team Secret have won 4 LAN tournaments this season and have yet to place below fourth-place in 8 tries.
Predictions for OG vs Team Secret
Up against the only Dota 2 team this season to have played in the Grand Finals of all the Major tournaments this season, OG completely decimated Virtus.Pro in the opening rounds of the MDL Disneyland Paris Major 2019 by taking the entire series in less than 45 minutes.
It wasn’t just a single player’s effort that resulted in such a resounding win, mind you. It was OG’s superior teamplay that allowed them to take one teamfight after another and use every inch afforded to them to create a huge enough of a gap so early that Virtus.Pro had no choice but to GG out and accept such a humbling loss.
OG will look to replicate the same performance against Team Secret on May 10 to secure a spot in the Upper Bracket Final of the MDL Disneyland Paris Major, and they might just be able to do it.
OG’s playstyle, which revolves around grouping up and forcing enemy teams to fight on their terms, can put a monkey wrench into any opposing team’s gameplan, including one as skilled and as talented as Team Secret. Paired with their inspired play with ana now back in their lineup and the lack of tape on them, OG will should prove to be a tough matchup against Team Secret and are well worth risking on, especially when you consider the potential gains.
Betting: OG to win vs Team Secret at 3.40 odds via 10bet.
