Newbee Dominates Once Again In Manila Masters Day 2

Not content with taking down four-time Major champions OGthe Chinese powerhouse dominated Manila Masters Day 2 with a clean sweep against NA’s finest, Evil Geniuses.

Manila Masters Day 2

Top Two Finish Secured

Newbee has long been criticized for their lack of success outside of China. But, their performance these past two days should silence their critics.

Newbee has taken down three major powerhouses these past two days. First they took down Team Secret 2-1. Then they followed that up with a massive sweep of the reigning Major Champions OG. At the Manila Masters Day 2, Newbee continued their win streak by powering their way through Evil Geniuses.

The win secures a top-two finish at the Manila Masters. But, more importantly, the team is now just one series’ win away from winning their first international LAN tournament.

Battle of the Rages

The event also featured an all-new segment, Battle of the Rages, earlier in the day.

The event had audience members compete to see who could recreate the most authentic “Puppey rage”. A panel of three experts judged the event. Namely, they were Jake “SirActionSlacks” Kanner, David “LD” Gorman, and to everyone’s surprise, Puppey himself.

The three contestants, Puppey Jr., Mark, and Henry gave in to their inner rage and did their best. In the end, Henry from the province of Tuguegarao won the contest, even getting a nod of acknowledgment straight from Puppey himself.

Manila Masters Day 2 Recap

As if fate had decided, the first match of the Manila Masters Day 2 saw Team Secret and Team NP face off against each other.

The two teams would end up splitting the first two games before Team NP’s aggressive gameplay finally got the best of Team Secret in Game 3. The victory surely must’ve felt special for Jacky “EternaLEnVy” Mao. The match, after all, marks the first time he and Clement “Puppey” Ivanov have met in a LAN event after their widely publicised feud.

Meanwhile, the second match of the day was between the two SEA powerhouses, Clutch Gamers, and Team Faceless. While most had the hometown team pegged to win the series, Team Faceless had other plans. Black^ and his team quickly took care of Clutch Gamers 2-0, spoiling their international LAN debut.

Team Faceless is now set to face the four-time Major champion, Team OG, who remain one of the scariest teams in the tournament.

Manila Masters Day 2

Manila Masters Day 2 and 1 have been full of surprises. Clutch Gamers, featured as one of our top teams, bowed out quite early. Meanwhile, Team NP has looked like a legitimate dark horse contender title.

Will day 3 be any different? Or, will it feature even more surprises?

Whatever it is, be sure to stay tuned! The event starts at 09:00 GMT +8:00, with matches following suit soon after.
