How To Play CSGO Danger Zone and Win

CSGO Danger Zone, the hotly anticipated battle royale mode of Valve’s premiere FPS, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, has finally arrived, and in true Valve fashion, it’s not quite like any other game in its genre out there.

There are many differences in CSGO Danger Zone that’ll take some time getting used to, especially if you’re coming from other battle royale games. For example, you’re not playing against 99 other players. Instead, you’re only playing against 15 others. But, mind you, as small as that number may be, the relatively cramped map and the limited resources that you’re left to work with, make winning on your first few tries near-impossible.

But, don’t worry. We’ll help you with that.

Other than the usual battle royale tips — scouting the map before you land, landing first before the others and looting fast — we’ve rounded up everything we know about CSGO Danger Zone and what it takes to secure the win.

1. Brush up on your basic CS:GO skills

CSGO Danger Zone

Though a completely different game mode, Danger Zone is still pretty much CS:GO at its very core. (Valve)

CSGO Danger Zone may be a BR mode, but it’s still very much CS:GO. So, if your basic mechanics and fundamentals are a bit lacking, don’t expect to own once you start jumping into the danger zone.

If you’re a beginner, there are three things that you have to keep in mind when playing CS:GO’s Danger Zone. First, learn how to stick to natural cover. You’ll stick out like a sore thumb with that bright orange jumpsuit on if you move around in the open. Second, check every corner as you move. Third, and last, unlike in other battle royale games, remaining stationary in CSGO Danger Zone is not as punishing. Just don’t forget to aim your cross hairs at a fixed angle and hold it as much as possible.

If you really want to improve your chances of winning, you’ll want to play with bots first. This way, you can get a better feel of the fast pace of the game before you jump right into the thick of things.

2. Use your tablet

CSGO Danger Zone

In-game, the tablet is the closest thing you have as a friend, as it provides you with every bit of information you need to secure objectives and be the last man standing.

In CSGO Danger Zone, you have access to an in-game table that you can use to send drones over to drop off supplies for you, as well as check out the map. The map can be a bit tricky, but what we know is that hexagons that are marked yellow means that there’s someone in that particular area. You don’t want to be checking this early on, but once there are only a few survivors left, it’s a nice feature to have so you have a general idea of where your enemies might be hiding.

If you use this properly, it’ll be near impossible for enemies to catch you off guard.

3. Do take advantage of the drones

CSGO Danger Zone

The sky is the limit as far as how you can use the drones to your advantage.

Drones are your best friend in CS:GO Danger Zone.

You can use the drones to have anything you need delivered straight to you (so long as you have the money for it), whether it be weapons, ammo, and armour. But, doing so exposes you, so use it sparingly, or, if you’re feeling devious, you can use it to score some kills and bait others in for an easy kill. You can also take a look at where the other drones are headed, mostly because, where the digital deliveries are, that’s where your enemies are likely going to be.

If you’re short on supplies, you can shoot down the drones. Be warned, though. All that shooting can give away your position. Not to mention, if you miss, then that’s fewer bullets for you to work with, and ammo can get pretty scarce in the game.

Make sure that you’ve thought it through first, if the supplies are worth the risk or if you’re better off waiting to loot whoever you kill next.

4. Stay quiet

CSGO Danger Zone

Given the relatively small map of Blacksite, the quieter you are, the more likely you’re going to survive all the way until the end.

Walk and crouch. Don’t run or jump (or both) unless you absolutely have to. Running and jumping generate a lot of noise and gives away your position.

Speaking of noise, it can be both to your advantage and disadvantage. If you make too much noise, then it’s only a matter of time before someone else finds you. But, if you’re smart, you can make fake gun shots (although at the expense of your very limited ammo) to try and trick enemies into thinking that you’re somewhere else.

5. Keep an eye out on your ammo count

CSGO Danger Zones

Waste as much ammo as you can while waiting for the other players, because you certainly won’t have much to work with once the actual game starts.

When we said that ammo in CSGO Danger Zone was scarce, we weren’t kidding. Every single shot matters, because weapons very rarely come with a full magazine and ammo drops, as mentioned earlier, can be a huge risk.

The relatively small map means that engagements will come often, so always keep an eye out for ammo crates. More importantly, conserve your bullets and make every shot count.

6. Use your medi-shots

CSGO Danger Zone

It doesn’t really take long to use the medi-shot and the benefits are certainly well worth the effort, even in the middle of an ongoing gunfight.

The map in CSGO Danger Zone is just large enough to give each of the 16 players enough space to move around, but once the map starts closing in and the killing begins, you’ll find out soon enough just how small the map is.

With that said, do use your medi-shot generously. Unlike other battle royale games, once you get into a fight, you most likely will find each other soon enough. As such, if you’ve taken even just the slightest bit of damage, use your medi-shot the first chance that you can get. Not only can the extra health give you a slight advantage, but one of its side effects is that you’ll be able to move faster for a short period of time.

7. Red barrels are explosive

CSGO Danger Zone

You’d best bet that I got that win by staying as far away from the red barrels as possible.

Never ever trust the red barrels. They are not meant for cover fire.

In CSGO Danger Zone, try to stay as far away from red barrels as possible. This is because, just one single bullet can cause that barrel to explode and do damage in a surprisingly large radius. If you’re close enough, you’ll probably die right there and then.

While you can always use this to your advantage, it’s always better to be safe than sorry.

Other Useful CSGO Danger Zone Tips

  • The helicopters will occasionally drop supplies full of possibly game-winning loot. Be sure not to miss out on them.
  • While you may want to be careful about drones giving away your position, you shouldn’t be afraid to use your money to buy yourself some gear.
  • You can use a hammer or axe to open the other big crates scattered all over the map.
  • You can pick up parachutes that you can deploy.
  • There are various ways to earn money in the game, like securing hostages or eliminating a high value target. Though they’re not mandatory, they do help add a bit of a twist to them. You can check out where you can find your special target using your tablet map.
  • Don’t give up if you only have your bare hands to fight. Because ammo is scarce, you can try dodging your enemy’s bullets while you get closer. Once you’re in striking distance, you can actually use your bare hands to kill your enemies, or, at the very least, disarm them.

Final Thoughts

The goal in CSGO Danger Zone is to be the last man standing — not to gather as much loot as possible. Though having a lot of ammo, armor, and guns can certainly give you an edge in a gun fight, you’re probably better off eliminating your competition as soon as you have landed.

Don’t wait around for them to come to you. Come to them, all the while looting along the way.

Also, one last bit of advice, this isn’t Fortnite or PUBG. If you die once, that’s already game over. Because of this, you’ll want to play closely together with you’re team if you’re playing as a duo or as a squad.

All in all, CSGO Danger Zone is a refreshing take on the battle royale genre. Sure, not everyone might like the relatively few players in each game. But, hey, to each his own. At the very least, the game is well worth at least a try, mostly because it’s available for free and it’s arguably more enjoyable playing a quick 16-team battle royale game as opposed to going full tryhard in an hour-long competitive 5v5 match.
