FUT Champions Cup Bucharest Day 1 Recap – Gorilla Out, MoAuba on fire and a look at the knockouts.

Tassal “FaZe Tass” Rushan, Spencer “Gorilla” Ealing and Ryan “Hashtag Ryan” Pessoa were among a number of players who made a Day 1 exit in the FUT Champions Cup Bucharest.

FaZe Tass who was making his first appearance since being handed a ban, which will come into effect for FUT Champions Cup December seemed to be playing within himself – unable to overturn a deficit in his second leg vs DullenMike eventually losing the tie 1-0 meaning he would be going home.

Gorilla and Hashtag Ryan both took it to a 5th game but they gave themselves too much to do. Gorilla was defeated handily 8-5 by Brazillian Ebinho. This was the first time since FIFA 17 Paris Championship Gorilla had performed this poorly at a LAN. Hashtag Ryan was demolished 5-0 by Ajax Dani in Game 5. The latter had his own mixed day after being beaten by Fabio Denuzzo in Game 1 and Megabit in Game 4 – Dani needed this win and he turned up when it mattered.

Agge See’s Red

Day 1 of FUT Champions Cup Bucharest

Agge under his new team, North, had a strong Day 1.

There was some controversy in the game between August “Agge” Rosenmeier vs Zimme. Agge had fought hard to get back into the game. On the 89th minute of leg 2, Zimme’s screen went black, a referee was called over but in the confusion Agge scored a goal. The matched was ultimately restarted in the 89th minute but not before Agge had stern words with Zimme. It was perhaps for the best that Agge eventually won the tie on penalties.

Player of the Day

FUT Champions CUp Bucharest Day 1 Recap

MoAuba was on fire throughout Day 1 of the FUT Champions Cup Bucharest.

Two players had a perfect 5-0 record in Day 1 of FUT Champions Bucharest but it was Mohammed “Mo_Auba” Harkouz that is our player of the day. He scored 31 goals over the 5 games and beat Nicolas “Nicolas99FC” Villalba coming back in match 2 to score 3 unanswered goals to win 4-3. He looked relaxed throughout the day and even offered up a few tactical secrets to Mike LaBelle who was working the desk. Apparently, he plays a 4-2-3-1 in defence and when he lofts the ball forward he changes to a 4-4-2 in game. It seems to be causing problems for players and he’ll be going into Day 2 confident.

FUT Champions Cup Bucharest – Looking To The Knockouts

Day 2 FUT Champions Playstation Knockout

The Playstation bracket of FUT Champions Cup Bucharest.

The PlayStation looks slightly weaker on paper than the Xbox but I feel the winner will come from here. MoAuba should see himself past AndoniiPM to meet Joksan, winner of the Continental Cup, which should be one of the must-watch games of Day 2. MoAuba must feel confident of reaching the Playstation Final looking at that his side of the bracket. Nicolas99FC may be feeling slightly nervous, a matchup against TheStrnxger in the quarters isn’t ideal. Anyone of Nicolas99FC, TheStrxnger and Maestro could see themselves in the final.

FUT Champions Cup Day 2 Xbox

The Xbox side is stacked with talent.

A few big names are going to be disappointed but the end of Day 2. Ajax Dani vs Megabit jumps out neither player will be happy to face a player of this quality so early, my tip is for Dani to go through after sealing a place in the knockouts in Game 5 of Day 1. The winner of that tie will play either Rogue Nraseck or Ebinho, a tie to close to call. The path to the final is just ridiculous because you suspect the Semi would then be against either Rogue Goalmachine, who had a perfect record in Day 1 or Fabio Denuzzo, two players who both appeared at the FIFA eWorld Cup, whoever gets to the Xbox final here deserves it – big time. The other side is more up in the air, Ajax Joey will want to make this tournament count, he has to serve a suspension still. Elsewhere F2Tekkz will have a tough game against DullenMike, if he beats him he might fancy his chances looking at his opposition.
