Fortnite World Cup Week 3: Tfue Qualifies while Mongraal misses out

Popular streamers Tfue and Secret Domentos were among a number of high profile players who qualified as solo players in Week 3 of the Fortnite World Cup Online Qualifiers.

Tfue started his ten games slow, taking just 4 points in his first two games. But from there he began flexing his skills, finding consistent high ground with the safety net of the glider and racking up a number of high kill games.

Qualification was secured in nail-biting fashion, approaching the 3-hour mark, Tfue had only completed 9 games and seriously considered backing out the game and starting another.

He convinced himself otherwise and took the win putting him in 1st place and securing his place in the World Cup in New York and netting $5,000 now and a guaranteed $50,000 when he takes his place at the Fortnite World Cup.

200,000+ viewers watched Tfue from his Twitch stream far exceding the 40k that tuned into the official stream, highling the importance of big personalities to the Fortnite competitive scene.

Elsewhere in NA, FaZe Funkbomb also qualified as well as CLG’s Psalm – a player best-known for exploiting game breaking items, like the Infinity Blade and Boombox, in major tournaments and being unapologetic about it.

We also got our first controller player booking his place. Coming in a very respectable 3rd, TTV UnknownxArmy might not be known to many but he will find he suddenly has a lot more followers on Twitch.

One player who will be bitterly disappointed is MSF Clix, he qualified last week as a duo and just missed out here, finishing 8th – 2 places outside the qualifying spots.

Domentos of Team Secret is a name familiar to many and he will be glad to have booked his place in just week 3.

A notable omission here is Mongraal, having qualified last week for Duo’s and finishing 1st in Saturday’s semi-final with a 16 kill game his confidence would have been sky high, but he struggled on Sunday and just couldn’t get going.

Fan’s of the player needn’t worry though it’s a matter of when, not if, for the British youngster.

Stepbro Karhu was another young gun who has benefited from Epic allowing under 16’s to compete. Born in Finland but now residing in the USA, he qualified in 2nd.

Ghost Kayuun and Bloom Falconer are two names that will be disappointed to not qualify. Kayuun is another representing controller players and Falconer performed well – expect these two to get in before the end of qualifiers.
