Febby and pieliedie Part Ways with Mineski

Mineski’s support duo, Johan ‘pieliedie’ Åström and Yongmin ‘Febby’ Kim, have officially parted ways with the Southeast Asian organization.

Mineski confirmed this earlier on Thursday following the team’s early exit at CORSAIR DreamLeague Season 11.

Mineski’s general manager had this to say regarding the change:

“It has been a pleasure to have Febby and pie on our roster, they both brought great energy and maturity, and helped build a great environment for the team which was important for our recent qualification to the major. They will both definitely be missed!”

Mineski have long been considered one of the premiere organizations in Southeast Asia. However, they have never really had much success in the international stage until last year. With the duo of Chai ‘Mushi‘ Yee Fung and Daryl Koh ‘iceiceice‘ Pei Xiang, Mineski were able to secure multiple LAN wins and deep runs. This includes winning a Major at DAC 2018, where they stunned the Chinese crowd by beating PSG.LGD in the grand finals.

This season, however, has not been as successful.

As most of the previous season’s players left, including iceiceice and eventually, Mushi, the team had no choice but to build around a new set of players. Although they bought in TI7 runner-up Damien ‘kpii‘ Chok to help the team, it wasn’t until pieliedie joined and the likes of TNC Predator slumped that they were finally able to secure a spot at a Major.

Now that both pieliedie and Febby are out, Mineski will have to find capable replacements fast for them to have a shot at qualifying for the MDL Disneyland® Paris Major.

Will Pieliedie Reunite with EternaLEnVy?

The duo of pieliedie and Jacky ‘EternaLEnVy‘ Mao is one of the most iconic in Dota 2. In fact, both players have played a total of 1,140 games together. This is good for third in the all-time list. However, both chose not to play together this season. As EternaLEnVy went back to North America to play with compLexity Gaming and eventually form his own stack in Flying Penguins, his long-time partner would choose to stay behind in Southeast Asia.

Now that both players are free agents once again, we might just see them reunite for the final stretch of the season.

If that happens, it wouldn’t mark the first time that pieliedie and EternaLEnVy would reunite in the middle of the year. In 2017, pieliedie would reunite with EternalEnVy in Team NP following his stint with Team Secret.

Either way, as one of the most well-respected captains in Dota 2, it’ll be interesting to see what pieliedie does next.

Which team do you think pieliedie will join next? Do you think he will reunite with EternaLEnVy in another stack? Be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments down below.
