With the strong first series opening of the EU LCS 2017 Summer Split Week 2, Misfits continue to exceed all our expectations! They have surprised us since the EU LCS 2017 Summer Split predictions, so now it’s only fair we give them credit where credit is due. Here’s Esportsranks’ EU LCS 2017 Summer Split Week 2 Recap.
EU LCS 2017 Summer Split Week 2 Recap – Day 3 (June 10)
MSF vs. ROC – 2:1
ROCCAT won the first game quite convincingly, with 8 times more kills than Misfits. Then, MSF staged a complete counter-trashing in the second game and third game, with 25-7 and 18-3 in kills. MSF PowerOfEvil collected monstrous 14 kills in the second, and 7 in the third game. With a strong statement like this, other teams better watch out when faced against MSF next time.
NiP vs G2 – 0:2
It’s safe to say NiP has already established themselves as the bottom feeder of Group A. Although they showed momentary glimpses of individual player skill and brilliance, it’s all nowhere near enough to contend with experienced veterans of the EU LCS scene. Such was the case against reigning champs G2 Esports. In the first match, NiP managed to seriously threaten G2 around the 30 minute mark, when they got a sizeable lead in team gold and player kills. The game even ended with NiP having 11 to 6 kills lead. However, G2’s experience and teamplay was on another level – NiP simply had no answer. The second game featured Zven on steroids in the late game, with 14 out of 20 total kills accounted to his name.
EU LCS 2017 Summer Split Week 2 Recap – Day 4 (June 11)
MM vs. SPY – 0:2
Contrary to our prediction of a close series, Splyce was too much for Mysterious Monkeys to contend with. The first match was a 25-8 stomping. It was so one-sided that MM didn’t kill a single tower, dragon or Baron Nashor. Despite MM Lamabear drawing first blood on SPY Trashy in the second game, it was obvious SPY had a better grasp on macro-plays and map positioning, taking down towers and accumulating a gold advantage. This quickly translated into more kills as well. MM demonstrated individual parity, but they will need more than just skill to be effective in the EU LCS 2017 Summer Split.
H2K vs. UOL – 1:2
It all started really, really badly for UOL. The first game was a slow and painful ordeal for them, as they were continuously on the back foot, unable to gain control of the match. H2K Febiven was a thorn in Unicorns’ eyes, with H2K Odoamne and Nuclear aiding in the overall pressure. The second match was a tug-of-war with neither side giving too much ground to their opponent. Then, just a bit before 15th minute of the game, UOL suffered fewer casualties in the crucial teamfight, enabling them to take control of the match flow and map presence. The game was over quickly in less than 27 minutes.
Third game was a spectacle in itself. H2K had a stronger opening in the early game, and the tempo swung heavily into their favor. UOL slowly crawled their way back, methodically closing the huge gap. A few overstays from H2K in the midlane were enough for UOL to gain complete control and push for the win. In the end, a nail-biting victory for UOL, and a strong statement from H2K.
