EU LCS 2017 summer split week 1

Week 1 of the EU LCS 2017 Summer Split is behind us. The most interesting take so far is the return of “old” Fnatic. The rest of the teams pretty much showed their Spring Split form. Here’s Esportsranks’ brief recap of the EU LCS 2017 Summer Split Week 1 series.

DAY 1 (June 1)

H2K vs. SPY – 2:0

The opening game of the EU LCS 2017 Summer Split was a 44-minute long chess match, where H2K’s synergy prevailed over Splyce’s quite competitively stacked roster. The second game was a complete stomping clinic directed by H2K, with H2K’s Odoamne and Febiven in main roles. Splyce was clearly outplayed in every aspect of the game. It was over in just 24 minutes.

FNC vs. MSF – 2:0

Fnatic with an extra-large dose of Rekkles against Misfits without KaKAO? Well, it would’ve been too much to expect anything different than a sweeping 2:0 for Fnatic. With a total of just 9 kills in 2 matches (Fnatic had 37), Misfits lost the first series quite convincingly.

DAY 2 (June 2)

ROCCAT vs. G2 Esports – 1:2

Team ROCCAT showed why they narrowly missed the playoffs during Spring Split in the first match. They trashed G2’s substitute-infested roster (Blanc instead of Perkz, Send0o and Loulex instead of Koreans Expect and Trick) with a convincing lead in kills, towers, and gold. However, Blanc went beastmode in games 2 & 3. His excellent plays opened up enough room for G2’s Zven and mithy to do their magic and secure the overall series victory.

UOL vs. VIT – 2:0

As clear contenders for the EU throne, Unicorns of Love unleashed their ace game from the very beginning. Exileh snatched a legendary killstreak in the first game (9-0-4), with Vitality’s team barely getting just 1 kill total. The second game saw UOL’s Samux and Vizicsacsi exerting enough pressure for Vitality to falter again. Overall, this was probably the most one sided series of the entire EU LCS 2017 Summer Split Week 1.

DAY 3 (June 3)

H2K vs. MM – 2:0

Although H2K struggled a bit in the first game, their proficiency and experience was simply too much for Mysterious Monkeys. The second match was heavily one sided, with H2K’s Nuclear massacring MM’s players through the entire game (9-0-3). Monkeys were too far away with only 2 kills combined, and after just 27 minutes, H2K took home a 2:0 series victory.

FNC vs NiP – 2:0

A dominant first game win for FNC was followed by a much closer game No. 2. NiP definitely showed they have the talent required to participate in the EU LCS 2017 Summer Split. However, it was apparent that the last-minute inception and formation of this team clearly missed coordination, synergy and communication. If they survive through the EU LCS 2017 Summer Split, they should definitely keep majority, if not all the players currently on the team and let them get familiar with each other.

Here’s the more detailed analysis of EU LCS 2017 Summer Split Day 3.
