EU LCS Playoffs Preview – Format & Schedule

EU LCS 2017 Summer Playoffs are shaping up to be an absolute ball of excitement. With Fnatic looking better than ever, H2K, G2, UOL, Splyce and Misfits can all hope for the title.

The format of EU LCS 2017 Summer Playoffs is set to single-eliminations; all matches are Best Of 5.

Now, quarterfinals winners are going to be matched against the teams from another group in the semifinals. In case both quarterfinals winners come from the same group, for example, UOL and Splyce, the third placed will face the winner of their own group. In the previous example, Splyce would go on to face H2K. UOL would play against Fnatic.

The series will unfold over the course of next three weekends. All series will commence at 5 PM CEST (GMT/UTC+2). Quarterfinals will be played on August 19th and August 20th. Semifinals are lined up on August 26th and 27th.

Third place BO5 and Finals will take place on September 2 and 3 in Paris, France at the AccorHotels Arena. There are still a few available tickets so hurry up and get yours.

EU LCS 2017 Summer Playoffs Preview – Quarterfinals

The two quarterfinals pairs are Unicorns vs. Misfits and G2 vs. Splyce. Realistically speaking, a clear victory for both Unicorns and G2 Esports would be the logical path.

However, competition rarely follows logic. Misfits, led by a seasoned midlaner PowerOfEvil, have looked great the entire season. Splyce, despite the Head Coach layoff, is still a team capable of capitalizing on any mistake their opponents make.

August 19th is right around the corner, we’ll have our answer then and there.

Betting, Esportsranks pick:

  • Unicorns of Love to win 3-1 at 13/5
  • Splyce first to reach 10 kills on Map 1 at 6/4

EU LCS 2017 Summer Playoffs Preview – Semifinals

It’s hard to speculate anything at the moment, as we don’t even know the semifinals pairs. All we know is that, based on their regular season performance, both H2K, and especially Fnatic, deserve to be semifinals seeds.

Regardless of the opponent, Fnatic are favourites in semifinals. They’ve had an awesome run in the EU LCS Summer Split. It would be a shame to see them eliminated in the semis.

On the other hand, H2K have been the most consistent gatekeepers this season, but they were coming up short against the likes of Unicorns and Fnatic during the summer split. They have a history of playoffs eliminations – is it finally their time to shine?

At this point we can only speculate, but Fnatic absolutely deserve to be one of the finalists. They’re undoubtedly favourites for the title this summer as well.

Unfortunately, UOL has only one path to the finals. They first need to beat Misfits, which is a winnable matchup. But then, they would inevitably face Fnatic in the semifinals.

The two have already clashed in week 7 of the regular season. Unicorns won the first match, but then Fnatic pulled a crushing reverse sweep.

In such a situation, the odds of G2 Esports defeating Splyce in quarterfinals and H2K in the semifinals look promising.

Ultimately, Fnatic vs. G2 Esports in the finals is the most likely outcome. Then, the “Old Kings” should be able to finally regain their rightful place at the top of Europe.

Betting, Esportsranks pick:

  • Fnatic to win outright at 11/10
  • G2 Esports to reach final at evens
