The ESL Pro League Season 8 quarterfinals is finally upon us, with four teams battling it out for a chance to move on to the semifinals and be one step closer to winning the lion’s share of the $750,000 prize pool.
Of the sixteen teams that made it to Odense earlier this week, only six remain. Astralis and MIBR both posted spectacular performances during the group stages. As a result, they were awarded with a berth directly in the semifinals. Meanwhile, the four other teams, namely mousesports, Renegades, Team Liquid, and Natus Vincere, will all be fighting for their tournament lives at the ESL Pro League Season 8 quarterfinals.
With the playoffs about to kick off soon, let us not delay any further and get right on with our picks for the day.
ESL Pro League Season 8 Quarterfinals Prediction
mousesports vs Renegades
It seems like an unlikely team rises up to make a deep run every other tournament, and this time around, it’s Renegades.
After making an amazing lower bracket run during the group stage, Renegades now find themselves with a bit of luck on their side as they face off against mousesports. No offense to mousesports, but as good as they are, they can’t really compare to the likes of Team Liquid, Natus Vincere, MIBR, and of course, Astralis.
Having said that, there’s some serious upset potential here, especially if mousesports aren’t playing well.
Unfortunately, banking on Renegades to win is too big of a risk to take. However, smart money is on them making this series relatively close and taking at least one map off of mousesports.
Betting: Renegades +1.5 in Spread Full Time at 1.79 odds via 10bet.
Team Liquid vs Natus Vincere
Speaking of games that could go either way, hands up if you’re confident enough to say that you can predict which one of these teams will walk away the win tomorrow.
Having both been in the running for the #2 spot next to Astralis for most of the year, these two teams are relatively close in terms of talent, skill, and success. But, momentum-wise, Team Liquid could have the upper hand. Fresh off of dominant win at SuperNova Malta where they didn’t even drop a single game, Team Liquid finally got over the proverbial hump and won their first LAN trophy since winning the second CS Summit tournament in Los Angeles earlier in February of this year.
With Team Liquid recently having beaten every team they faced that’s not named Astralis without so much of an effort, they’re the more favoured team to walk away from this heavyweight tilt tomorrow as the winners if only ever so slightly.
Betting: Team Liquid to win at 1.60 odds via 10bet.
