ESL Pro League Season 5 Finals – Finals Preview - Esportsranks
ESL Pro League Season 5 Finals – Finals Preview

ESL Pro League Season 5 is ready to reach its conclusion as we have G2 Esports and North breaking out for the grand finale. Things got a bit interesting between G2 Esports and SK Gaming. G2 Esports were able to get into a rhythm allowing them to bridge gaps and take over. They showed a dominating T side on cache and an even more impressive CT side on overpass. What is more important is that they took that game from SK Gaming who happen to be one of the best teams to play that map. FalleN were inconsistent throughout and they were lacking presence from coldzera on the two games they lost. G2 Esportsranks performed oppositely, consistent, and their players were on form throughout. They had different leading fraggers on the important games. This showed their how locked in they are in chemistry, strategy and aim.

North came out of the gates on fire winning the first 5 rounds of the game on Nuke. They never skipped a beat and completely massacred Team Liquid with a 13-2 halftime lead. It felt like watching a game from the old Nuke, where things usually go this well for those who start with the CT side. Team Liquid lost the pistol round after the half and eventually lost the game 16-5. Team Liquid came out with redemption in mind on the second game in Mirage. They started by winning an anti eco right after losing the pistol round. They held their ground on CT side and ended the half with an 11-4 lead. EliGE was better than usual which was already great but couldn’t stop the force from North as they toil 9 straight rounds to shrink the lead and take over. Team Liquid managed to gather themselves and earn match point first, but North was able to force OT. North won OT 4-2 and advanced to the finals in a thrilling game 2 against Team Liquid.

G2 Esports (1.503) vs North (2.338)

G2 Esports should be the slight favorites to win this. I would say they are the better team and faced a much tougher group. As a best of 5 series, I’d favor North’s map pool slightly than G2 Esports. The series would depend big on who would win the AWP battle. I’d choose ‘kennyS’ to win that duel, giving them the edge. North are not a fast paced team like G2 Esports but could bring the pace if they take the early lead. Konfig has been great so far in the tournament and is also locked in. North has been having a bad T side as of late and should improve in that area as G2 Esports have a more than decent CT defense. Overall, I’d favor G2 Esports and have them winning the series 3-1. The series would be extremely risky and would most likely bet on handicaps.

G2 Esports 3 – North 1 (3-1 in favor of G2 Esports)
