ESL One Katowice Major Invites Now Complete - Esportsranks
ESL One Katowice Major Invites Now Complete

After weeks of being announced one by one, the list of ESL One Katowice Major Invites is now finally complete.

The complete list of ESL One Katowice Major invites include the CIS bears Virtus Pro; the DreamLeague Major Champions Team Secret; the reigning TI7 champions Team Liquid; TI7 runner ups and winners of the Perfect World Minor Newbee; premiere North American organisation Evil Geniuses; winners of the PGL Open Bucharest Minor Mineski; the talent-laden Chinese squad ViCi Gaming; and Natus Vincere, who are enjoying their best season in years.

In total, the first Valve Major to be held in Poland will feature as many as 16 teams. As already mentioned, 8 have received a direct invite. 6 more will make their way via the Regional Qualifiers. ESL have yet to announce how they plan on filling the two remaining slots for the tournament.

As a Valve Major and part of the Dota Pro Circuit, the ESL One Katowice Major have $1,000,000 and 1,500 Qualifying Points for The International 2018 up for grabs.

ESL On Point With Katowice Major Invites

While Valve have remained firm on the Dota Pro Circuit guidelines they set prior to the season, they missed out on quite a few things.

For starters, Valve didn’t set a limit to how many teams organisers can directly invite to their tournaments, or what the criteria should be. Major. Because of this, tournament organisers have free reigns to invite whoever they want. Invites have often devolved into a popularity contest of sorts, instead of being decided purely by team performance.

The Katowice Major invites, however, seem on point.

Team Liquid and Newbee are practically shoo-ins in every tournament. They deserve as much after finishing in the top 2 at The International 7. Besides, it’s not like they’ve slacked off since. The same goes for Team Secret and Virtus Pro, winners of the DreamLeague Major and ESL One Hamburg Major respectively.

Basically every team who received a direct invite to the Katowice Major have earned it. Not all may have won a Valve Minor or Valve Major yet, but each one, save for Natus Vincerewould advance directly to TI8 if the invites were to be based on the most recent Dota Pro Circuit standings.

Having said that, the Katowice Major invites surely will be looking forward to taking part of the festivities at ESL One Katowice.
