ESL One Hamburg 2018 Playoffs Day 2 will see the remaining pool whittled down from 5 to just 3 teams as we move on closer to the end of the tournament.
Team Secret sure do know how to end the day with a bang. Up 1-0 against Evil Geniuses in the lower brackets, the series looked like it would go to a third, deciding game before Team Secret decided to just man up and did whatever it took to secure a win, highlighted by Michal ‘Nisha‘ Jankowski buying a Divine Rapier twice on his Terrorblade.
If that’s not what you’d call ballsy, then I don’t know what is.
Lucky for us viewers, we get a chance to rest from the crazy shenanigans of Team Secret for a full day tomorrow in Day 2 of the ESL One Hamburg 2018 Playoffs. However, seeing that all eyes were probably on the showdown between Team Secret and Evil Geniuses, we might just see tomorrow’s teams try to upstage what has to be the best game of the entire tournament so far.
Having said that, let’s get right down to business as we lay out to you our picks for the ESL One Hamburg 2018 Playoffs Day 2.
ESL One Hamburg 2018 Playoffs Day 2
Team Aster vs paiN Gaming
As we predicted yesterday, paiN Gaming would be able to take full advantage of Forward Gaming’s lack of cohesion as a team. However, while their chaotic play style is conducive for such a thing, they’re up against a team who isn’t afraid to brawl it out themselves in Team Aster.
Stacked with talent in every individual position, Team Aster are a handful to play against regardless of who’s playing them, and paiN Gaming will likely struggle in a three-game series, especially because of Lin ‘Xxs‘ Jing and Ye ‘BoBoKa‘ Zhibiao, who both have been absolutely phenomenal for Team Aster throughout the tournament.
At 1.25 odds to win (bet $100 to $125), there’s really not much you can get for banking on Team Aster, but if you change that to a 2-0 map score at 1.79 odds or a 2-1 map score at 3.43 odds, then you’ve got every reason to go all-in on China in this particular matchup.
Betting: Correct Score 2:1 in Maps in favour of Team Aster at 3.43 odds. (GGbet)
Virtus.Pro vs Vici Gaming
Did you know, that last season, while Virtus.Pro had a winning record against nearly every Dota 2 team in the world, they broke even or even lost more often than not against a number of teams, including PSG.LGD and Vici Gaming.
While the latter no longer fields the same lineup as they did last season, they are arguably better as each position is now filled by young players who are hungry for glory.
In terms of match up, Vici Gaming also have the necessary tools to match up well against Virtus.Pro. Case in point, Zeng ‘Ori‘ Jiaoyang and Zhang ‘Paparazi‘ Chengjun are mechanically skilled players who are more than capable of holding their own against their counterparts on Virtus.Pro.
Consider this a leap of faith, but something tells me that we’ll be seeing Virtus.Pro in the lower brackets tomorrow after their matchup against Vici Gaming.
Betting: Vici Gaming to win vs Virtus.Pro at 2.46 odds. (GGbet)
