We’re at the ELEAGUE Playoffs at last, and all the lethal competition we’ve seen in matches in the last weeks has been building up to this point.
Teams from each of the four groups will be competing in matches. Two of those matches will be today. Cloud9 will fight G2 Esports, and Astralis will battle Fnatic.
Cloud9 are the only team from North America to enter the playoffs, so there are a lot of hopes centered on them.
All the matches will be BO3. The losing teams will be disqualified from the event and the winners will advance to the Semifinals.
The disqualified teams will have no other chance to make the Semifinals – these are ruthless eliminations, and here, a single mistake could be fatal.
ELEAGUE Playoffs – Cloud9 vs G2 Esports
(October 10, 2017 – 14:00 EDT)
G2 Esports currently ranks 2nd globally, as well as in the European rankings.
Cloud9, on the other hand, rank 9th globally, and 2nd in America. This team was once more or less an equal competitor with Team Liquid. But Cloud9 have, in recent events, pushed Liquid into the background with some excellent plays.
The team has won three Major events this year, earning a total of $50,000 in prize money. The victories did not come easy; they defeated teams like SK Gaming, OpTic Gaming and Immortals in the Finals of each event. Those were also BO3 matches.
Since then, however, they have replaced two of their players with “RUSH” and “tarik”. The change seems to be only a partial success – they certainly have pushed to second place in America, but their new roster doesn’t seem to be able to hold up reliably against top-tier teams. Cloud9 were recently defeated by FaZe Clan, North and SK Gaming 2-0 in BO3 matches.
G2 Esports, on the other hand, have won one Major and two Premier leagues, earning a total of $375,000 in prize money.
That’s 7.5 times more than Cloud9. Moreover, these victories were all by the team’s current roster, which means that this team can be relied upon to deliver the same results consistently. Their most recent – EPIC – victory was on the 3rd of September of this year, at DreamHack Masters Malmö, where they defeated North 2:0.
If we compare these two teams, G2 Esports are playing in much better form as compared to Cloud9. G2 Esports are the team to bet on.
The odds are 4/6 on G2 Esports!
ELEAGUE Playoffs – Astralis vs Fnatic
(October 10, 2017 – 16:30 EDT)
The most recent encounter between these teams was just last week, at the ESL Pro League Season 6 –Europe. There, Fnatic defeated Astralis in both matches – Mirage (16:4) and Train (16:8). Fnatic put out some serious game-play, even though the odds were against them – this because they had lost to inferior teams in the previous seven matches that they played.
So how is this match likely to go?
I’d advise serious members of the betting fraternity to put their money on the previous match, as opposed to this one.
Neither of these teams is a reliable winner, and the match is in the hands of luck and fortune.
That’s no way to make your fortune!
