SK Gaming and FaZe Clan will face off today in an epic rematch. The last time these two teams faced each other was in the Finals of the ESL Pro League last year, where SK Gaming destroyed FaZe Clan to take the title. This should be an interesting match-up. It’ll give us some indicator of how well these teams are playing against teams of their own level, and what form they’re in, because this match is surely going to test the form of both teams. We’ll go into this in a little more detail, but first, let’s look at another epic match that’s slated for today.
Quantum Bellator Fire have been putting out some exceptional gameplay. First they decimated Virtus.pro, and then they dragged Gambit Esports into overtime and destroyed them there, proving to the CS:GO universe that even a fully-equipped Gambit were no match for them. Today they have their ‘baptism of fire’, a chance to prove, once and for all, that they deserve to rank among the top teams of the world. Their opponent is none other than G2 Esports, who are, of course, going to destroy them here. However, if QBF can win this match, they certainly deserve to rank with the best.
These matches are going to be interesting. SK Gaming are of course favorites to win this event, but FaZe Clan and G2 Esports aren’t very much behind them. It’s a clash of titans, and the winner of the High Matches will directly qualify for the New Champions Stage of the event.
The Low Matches – Two teams will be eliminated
We’ll also take a look at the Low Matches here, where two teams are due to be eliminated. Yes, this the last chance that BIG, North, Virtus.pro and Cloud9 have to stay in the event. Oddly enough, Cloud9, who did so well in the New Challengers Stage, are now in danger of being eliminated. So, without more ado, here are our predictions for both the High and Low Matches of Round 3.
Quantum Bellator Fire Vs G2 Esports – A Sure Win
QBF have certainly been putting out some incredible plays, and we deeply admire the spirit, skill and training that has allowed them to face off against the best teams in the world and win. But their winning streak ends here, with G2 Esports all but slated to assassinate them. While QBF did defeat both Virtus.Pro and Gambit, remember that those two teams have a reputation for extremely inconsistent play, and for losing at just about any reasonable opportunity.
While G2 Esports are not the best team in the world, they do put out a consistent and professional level of play, and more, have been playing in excellent form here. They also do not usually lose against less experienced teams. They proved this in the New Challengers Stage by defeating Vega Squadron, and they will prove it again today. The odds are running at 1.18 on G2 Esports, and a stake on them will give sure returns.
SK Gaming Vs FaZe Clan
No one could ask for a better match up than these two teams facing off against each other. Putting them in a match together ensures that at least one of them will qualify for the New Champions Stage. This battle is going to be epic, and will allow commentators to see just how well SK Gaming can play against FaZe Clan without boltz on their roster. This is not a match to place a stake on, since both teams are equally strong, though SK Gaming do seem to be more focused and consistent in their plays than FaZe Clan.
BIG Vs North
These teams made a very good effort at the beginning of the last year, but lost out on later performances. North and BIG have played two online matches against each other, and both times North put down BIG with a minimum difference of seven rounds in their scores. This match is a risk to bet upon, as, while North do have a better chance of a win, the match could still swing either way. If you’d still like to risk a stake, the odds are running at 1.27 on North.
Virtus.pro Vs Cloud9
Even though both of these are tier one teams, they have not faced each other since Cloud9 made changes to their roster. Those changes were four months ago. Cloud9 are playing in excellent form, and even though they lost two matches, those matches were against G2, who have not lost a single match at this event, and against Space Soldiers, who are playing in brilliant form here. So, all in all, Cloud9 have played reasonably well at this event. The same cannot be said for Virtus.pro. First of all, they lost against QBF. Yes, admittedly, QBF have been playing exceptionally well, but that doesn’t change the fact that they are a new team, while Virtus.pro are supposedly ‘veterans’. They then lost against Fnatic, who are themselves not playing all that exceptionally at this event. Cloud9 have a very good chance here to keep their team in the event here.
