ELEAGUE is back at it again with yet another CS:GO tournament with the ELEAGUE Invitational 2019. But, unlike their previous go-around in CS:GO, ELEAGUE’s latest tournament is smaller in scale. Only 4 teams will be playing and the action spread out just across two days from January 25-27.
Nevertheless, the tournament should remain a spectacle. The $150,000 prize pool up for grabs will help make sure of that, as it’s sizeable enough to give the participating teams some incentive to try hard and win the tournament.
So, without further delay, here is our preview for the ELEAGUE CS:GO Invitational 2019.
ELEAGUE Invitational 2019 Schedule
|January 25, 2019||January 26, 2019||January 27, 2019|
|FaZe Clan vs Cloud9 (2 PM ET)||Lower Bracket Round 1 (2 PM ET)||Lower Bracket Finals (2 PM ET)|
|BIG vs compLexity Gaming (5 PM ET)||Upper Bracket Finals (5 PM ET)||Grand Finals (5 PM ET)|
Contrary to the usual CS:GO tournament format, the ELEAGUE Invitational 2019 will forgo the group stages and go straight to the double-elimination playoffs.
With only 4 teams playing, this seems like the best and most logical thing to do. Not only does this give the losing teams another chance to redeem themselves in the lower brackets, but it’s also a huge win for fans who are expecting to watch a lot of CS:GO across the three days of the event.
ELEAGUE Invitational 2019 Betting Prediction
By name alone, FaZe Clan would take the cake. They’re easily the most popular team in the tournament, tied arguably only with Cloud9, and the former Boston Major champions haven’t exactly looked good since making history at this time last year.
At 2.00 odds to win the tournament (bet $100 to win $200), the oddsmakers over at ArcaneBet seem to agree. However, for anyone who’s been paying close attention to the scene lately, FaZe Clan are far from a shoo-in to win the invite-only tournament.
FaZe Clan fell flat on their face at the iBUYPower Masters IV tournament last week. Their latest experiment, with Dauren ‘AdreN‘ Kystaubayev on the roster, didn’t go as well for the team as they bombed out in 5th-6th place and showed obvious signs of rust, as well as expected communication issues brought about from bringing in a new face to the roster. On the other hand, BIG shouldn’t have that hard of a time adjusting to their latest addition.
Can ‘XANTARES‘ Dörtkardeş is much easier to plug into BIG’s lineup, which previously lacked a standout player, compared to FaZe Clan, who probably needs a proper IGL, or at the very least, another player who can consistently show up and complement Nikola ‘NiKo‘ Kovač, especially if the Bosnian superstar is to continue playing the role of in-game leader.
Of course, if everything clicks, none of these teams have the firepower to really put a stop to FaZe Clan. But, that’s a big if, and as far as risks go, it’s less of a jump to put your money on a team like BIG, who will only improve with a better player in the fold, as opposed to FaZe Clan, whose latest lineup likely needs a bit more time to gel.
Betting: BIG to win ELEAGUE Invitational 2019 at 3.75 odds. (ArcaneBet)
