DreamHack Masters Malmö to Return in October 2019

DreamHack Masters Malmö returns in October 2019, featuring all of the prestige and glory of all the previous CS:GO events ever held in the Swedish city — and perhaps even more.

DreamHack Masters Malmö will serve as the second Masters event by DreamHack this 2019 following the DreamHack Masters Dallas in late May. Similar to the Masters event in Dallas, the tournament will also be a part of the Season 2 of the Intel Grand Slam.

The tournament will see 16 CS:GO teams competing for $250,000 in prize money, as well as a chance to put themselves on the board the Intel Grand Slam.

Malmö is a historic city for CS:GO, as it bared witness to the first DreamHack Masters event ever back in 2016. Just a year later, Malmö once again played host to a DreamHack Masters event. However, the event skipped the city in 2018 and instead gave preference to the cities of Marseille and Stockholm.

DreamHack Masters Malmö 2019 will run from October 1 to 6 and will be a part of the Malmö Game Week festival.

DreamHack Masters Malmö Returns to a Familiar but Different Scene

A lot has changed since G2 Esports hoisted the trophy at the DreamHack Masters Malmö 2017 more than two years ago. For starters, the defending champions are nowhere to be found. As of the moment, they are meandering among the lower-tier CS:GO teams as Team Vitality have firmly overtaken them as the leaders of the French CS:GO scene. Not only that, but the likes of North, Gambit Esports, and Ninjas in Pyjamas are no longer frontrunners as well.

Astralis have since won the Season 1 of the Intel Grand Slam and established themselves as the best CS:GO team in the history of the game along the way. Team Liquid, Natus Vincere, and FaZe Clan have also all put themselves on top of the conversation as Astralis’ biggest threats. Not to mention, MIBR have also returned to the CS:GO scene, as the former SK Gaming squad have found themselves playing for a different banner.

All in all, the scene that the DreamHack Masters Malmö 2017 saw back then is far too different than what it will see this October.

But, then again, that’s all okay. At the end of the day, what fans and teams want is nothing but high quality CS:GO production and the best matches that the game has to offer, two things that DreamHack have always managed to deliver with their events.

With that said, the DreamHack Masters Malmö 2019 should be no different.
