We’ve seen some exciting battles at DreamHack Winter this year. Gambit vs Na’Vi was one of these. The match went into overtime five times, which is little short of incredible. Gambit started as Counter Terrorists, and were only able to score five rounds in the first half. In the second half, Gambit won ten rounds, and both the teams ended up with fifteen points. Then the match went into repeated overtimes, until at some point Natus Vincere simply ran out of stamina, and Gambit won the match. Na`Vi aren’t out of the picture yet, because they will have another chance at the Playoffs in the Decider matches, and if they win through we may yet see them fight Gambit at this event once again. And the teams being this evenly matched, that encounter could go either way.
Team EnVyUs dominate in Group B
EnVyUs stepped over mousesports to do that at DreamHack Winter this year. That was another upset at this event, because mousesports have been in such good form recently. It was especially interesting, because, Team EnVyUs defeated mousesports in Train, one of mousesports’ best maps. You might even call EnVyUs’ win a crucial statement that the team is ‘back in the game’.
Who will Natus Vincere face in the Decider Matches?
This has not been decided yet, because Rise Nation and Heroic still have to finish their matches in the Elimination Round. The winner will face Natus Vincere in the Decider matches and get a last chance to qualify for the Playoffs. If Rise Nation somehow win against Heroic, there is no doubt that Natus Vincere will then plow their way through them and into Playoffs. If Heroic win, their battle against Na’Vi is likely to be less one-sided. We have already seen that Natus Vincere are capable of defeating Heroic in Overpass, and now they’ve shown exceptional skill in Inferno, in their match against Gambit. Heroic don’t really dominate in any map. Na’Vi are likely to win the Decider whether they face Rise Nation or Heroic.
How are mousesports likely to do in the Deciders?
It’s quite clear that BIG are going to win the Elimination round against North Academy, and will face mousesports in the Decider Matches. So BIG is likely to face mousesports. BIG and mousesports have faced each other once in an offline best of one match in Train, and BIG won it by six rounds. But mousesports have a better history in best of three matches, as compared to BIG. All the stats say that mousesports are likely to win against BIG. If mousesports win this, they will face Gambit Esports in the Semifinals, and if Natus Vincere win the Decider, they will run up against Team EnVyUs in the Semifinals.
