Clinton Loomis Returns to Active Competition

Evil Geniuses announced today that Clinton Loomis, better known as Fear, will be returning as an active player for the upcoming season after spending the previous season as the team’s coach.

Old Man Fear Is Back

Clinton Loomis is a man that needs no introduction. He is one of the scene’s most widely respected veterans and has played at the game’s top level since 2005 when Dota was still a WarCraft 3 mod and stylized as DotA.

Throughout the years, he has played alongside many of Dota’s most famous names. This includes the likes of Ben ‘Merlini’ Wu, Clement ‘Puppey’ Ivanov and Kuro ‘KuroKy’ Salehi Takhasomi, among others. Although he is perhaps best known for his time with North America’s Evil Geniuses.

Fear has played in four TIs so far and was instrumental in helping Evil Geniuses win TI5 back in 2015.

The return of Fear comes just two days after Evil Geniuses announced the departures of their former captain and CEO, Peter ‘ppd’ Dager and position 4 Ludwid zai‘ Wåhlberg.

Unlike in previous years, however, Fear will not be playing as a core. Instead, he will move to the position 5 support role. He will also take over as Evil Geniuses’ captain and drafter for the upcoming season. Meanwhile, last season’s captain, Andreas Franck ‘Cr1t’ Nielson, will now play as the team’s position 4 support player.

Evil Geniuses looks to have only gotten better after the recent announcement; Cr1t is a solid position 4 support player who won 2 Majors with OG while Fear is arguably a better captain.

It’s highly likely that we’ll see Evil Geniuses new roster play their first LAN together at the PGL Open Bucharest on October 19.

What do you think of Fear’s decision to return as an active player and as Evil Geniuses’ captain? Be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments down below.
