The day of the China Dota2 Supermajor Grand Finals is finally here and what better way to end the inaugural DPC season with a showdown between the top teams in the world.
After coasting for much of the year — and by that, we mean placing outside of the Top 4 just twice in 12 tournaments and winning three Minors — the reigning TI champions Team Liquid have woken up at just the right time. It seems that their early exit at ESL One Birmingham 2018 did them well as they are now playing like a team on a mission. They have dropped only a single game all throughout the tournament en route to securing their spot in the China Dota2 Supermajor Grand Finals.
Team Liquid are now just waiting who will stop them from finally winning their first Major in franchise history. Will it be PSG.LGD, who they swept in the upper bracket finals earlier in Day 5? Or will it be Virtus.Pro, who they have had a bit of a rivalry with over the past two years?
While the results of the China Dota2 Supermajor Grand Finals will have no bearing on the leaderboards, the matches will, nevertheless, be quite the spectacle.
Having said that, let’s move on to our picks for the last day of the final tournament of the 2017-18 Dota Pro Circuit.
PSG.LGD vs Virtus.ProMatch Schedule: June 10, 2018 (Sunday 10:00 CST)
The matchup between the presumed two best Dota 2 teams in the world has not disappointed. Although Virtus.Pro lost in a sweep in their earlier bout, they have since admitted that they were willing to experiment letting Wisp go through the draft to see if they could beat it, and they nearly did. Twice, at that.
This time around, don’t expect Virtus.Pro to be as lenient.
With Team Liquid waiting for them in the China Dota2 Supermajor Grand Finals, expect Virtus.Pro to go for the win as they look to establish their dominance by taking down the reigning TI champions.
Betting: Virtus.Pro to win at 1.80 odds (ArcaneBet)
China Dota2 Supermajor Grand Finals Prediction
Regardless of who Team Liquid ends up facing, all of us viewers from around the globe and in the stadium will be in for quite the treat. These are the absolute best Dota 2 teams duking it out to end the inaugural Dota Pro Circuit. You simply just cannot come up with any better way to end it all.
As for our pick, it has to go to Team Liquid.
Earlier in the tournament, the story was Team Liquid finally finding the right way to play around Lasse ‘MATUMBAMAN‘ Urpalainen. But, as things progressed, it became clear that while every player on Team Liquid have been playing out of their minds, it’s Amer ‘Miracle-‘ Al-Barkawi who has stood out the most by pushing the limits of what he can do with his hero with his aggressive risky plays as he charges to the enemy team like an absolute madman.
With Team Liquid arguably in full TI form, there’s just no way they’d lose to either one of PSG.LGD or Virtus.Pro in a best-of-five.
