A late addition to the list of participating teams at the Captains Draft 4 SEA Qualifiers, Mineski continue to play gatekeepers of the region as they proceed to drop only two maps en route to securing a slot at another Pro Circuit tournament.
New Patch, Different Mode, Same Old Mineski
Regardless of where you put them, Mineski will dominate. Or at least, that’s what they’ve shown so far with their consistently strong showings, both in LANs and online qualifiers to start the season.
After playing streak busters in the Grand Finals of the Starladder Minor against Team Liquid earlier in October, the talent-laden squad led by Daryl Koh ‘iceiceice’ Pei Xiang and Chai ‘Mushi’ Yee Fung rebounded by taking home the PGL Open Title just a week later, which, for a while, put them on top of this season’s Qualifying Points leaderboards.
Unfortunately, due to undisclosed family matters, Mineski had to withdraw from the currently ongoing Dota Pit Minor. This paved the way for Fnatic to play in their second straight LAN tournament. However, there is a silver lining to them missing out on the third Minor of the season.
A Tier 2 invite to the Captains Draft 4 SEA Qualifiers, Mineski made up for missing out on the first Pro Circuit tournament of patch 7.07 by securing a slot in the first Minor of 2018.
Once again, every single team from Southeast Asia failed to outplay and outdraft Mineski; only TNC Pro Team were able to take a map off of them as they went 9-2 at the Captains Draft 4 SEA Qualifiers.
Mineski Current Lineup:
- Kam Boon ‘NaNa’ Seng
- Chai Yee ‘Mushi‘ Fung
- Daryl Koh Pei ‘iceiceice’ Xiang
- Anucha ‘Jabz’ Jirawong
- Michael ‘ninjaboogie’ Ross Jr.
By winning the Captains Draft 4 SEA Qualifiers, Mineski have qualified for all of the Pro Circuit Minors so far. They’re set to join direct invites, Evil Geniuses, and Team Secret, as well as Captains Draft SA Qualifiers winners, Midas Club Victory.
Captains Draft 4.0 is the first Pro Circuit Minor of 2018. It is also very unique. Instead of the usual “Captain’s Mode”, MoonDuckTV’s tournament will have participating teams play in the seldom-used mode, “Captain’s Draft”.
Captains Draft 4.0 is set to take place in Washington, D.C on January 4-7 and will feature a prize pool of $300,000, as well as 300 Qualifying Points.
