9000 MMR – The 20 best Dota2 players who reached the magic 9k number
Today, we bring you the story of the 20 best DotA2 Players that have achieved over 9000 MMR in solo ranked games. The latest addition to the list is Abed, a Filipino super talent well known for his Meepo micro. Now there is a round number of 20 players who have reached DotA2 PUB greatness.
Many great players may tell you that MMR is not a crucial factor in determining skill level of a player, but these players on our list are certainly above all others when it comes to securing victories in public games, where conditions are rarely perfect and your teammates may not be the ones you wish for. Most of them reached the 9k MMR cap while playing positions #1 and #2 but there are also few support players that prove that you can still carry games while playing support position.
The fantastic Jordanian was the first to break this imaginary barrier inside the DotA2 matchmaking system. He may have had the hardest path to achieve this feat, since at the time he was a ridiculous 1000 MMR ahead of (almost) every other player. For his team at the time, OG, he secured tons of prestige and for himself he made a name not only as an amazing PUB player but also accomplished team player. He has a very versatile hero pool and is known to play unorthodox picks in his primary position – mid lane.
First NA player to reach 9k MMR. He put in lot of effort to break the 9k barrier, often playing on EU servers with 140ms, mostly playing Outworld Devourer at position #1. This may seem like RTZ doesn’t play other roles and heroes as good, but that is far from true. However, you might not want to let him play support (RTZ Earth Spirit lol).
This man has shown that you don’t have to play core positions to win games – he is the first support in the world and the first player in China to breach 9000 MMR. He likes to play high impact supports but he is best known for his Skywrath Mage in PUB games, easily achieving more GPM than his cores. With a diverse hero pool and captain’s experience he brings a team environment to public games.
This incredibly talented “kid” from Russia has one of the most dominant playstyles, and he is only 17 years old! It’s hard to say which position he plays better #1 or #2, but he rarely ever picks anything else, and for a good reason. In an extremely hard MMR system surrounded by the best players he maintains 60% winrate, which by itself is an amazing feat.
First Chinese carry player to break through 9000 MMR, he also plays exclusively #1 and #2 positions, and since his arrival Newbee is one of the top contenders for every tournament they take part in. All heroes he plays rely heavily on dealing damage.
Despite not being able to win major tournaments with LGD, and that his team looks like “the second best team in China”, Ame is a consistent player. He played almost exclusively in the #1 position with approximately 15 heroes in his pool. Nowadays it seems that he does not pay that much attention to this aspect of the game.
MATUMBAMAN (Team Liquid)
This perfectly calm Finn is only the second player from Europe to join the 9000 MMR + club. Many assume that he decided to climb the ladder because he felt threatened when Miracle- joined TL. Be that as it may, he tries really hard in PUBs and even his smurf account may get over 9k MMR in near future.
Everyone agrees that Sonneiko is a very smart guy. Outside the pro scene, he is the first support in the CIS and EU regions to reach 9k. He can play any role, is extremely aggressive, and strategically flawless. He is famous for his Earth Shaker in earlier days, and nowadays for his Earth Spirit and Rubick plays. He often picks up mid lane, but his natural position is #4.
Paparazi plays exclusively core positions. If there is anything that this player enjoys, it is chasing Rampage-s and he is currently the highest ranked player in china. Despite playing #1 in his team, he prefers mid lane in PUBs. He has not achieved great success in international scene yet, but is certainly a player that you should keep an eye on.
GH-God (Team Liquid)
The third player in TL squad with over 9000 MMR – in the professional scene a support player, but in public matchmaking mostly plays mid lane. The Lebanese pride of DotA2 didn’t want to leave his original team for a long time, where he played with a couple of friends, but they realized that it would be a shame if such a talent went to waste.
The young Ukrainian player is if nothing else – persistent! This, of course, is an understatement, since he is very talented DotA2 player, but he always lacked the same performance in the competitive scene. To his credit, he is in the weakest of teams among all players who broke 9000 MMR barrier. He is not afraid to fill out any roles in order to make his team win.
This talented Swede plays exclusively mid lane. He is very creative, however not as reliable at all times. Among all 9k+ players he has completed his goal with the least played games on his account, and that is certainly a showcase of his skill.
Indubitably currently on of the best mid laners. He will punish every moment of your carelessness. However, reaching 9000 MMR + mark, he continued to intensively play and had fallen below the 9k many times only to breach it again. Only Virtus.Pro in CIS region has two players above 9k rating.
MidOne (Team Secret)
The mid lane superstar. Since he entered the scene, he carried Fnatic, and now his greatness is felt in Team Secret’s roster. His primary role is #2, but he is one of rare players of this rating list that is not ashamed to play support or any other role. One day he sat at his computer having 8800 MMR, and once he stood up he was close to 9300. He has an impressive (almost) 60% winrate from over 5000 games, and regardless of the role that he plays, hyper aggressive MidOne will impress you with his gameplay and execution.
One of the most impressive players for everyone who understands DotA2. Brilliant in MVP, brilliant in Team Secret, brilliant in B)ears. He is THE ONLY offlaner in the list. Super aggressive yet disciplined, he dies for objectives, and escapes incredible situations. He can play everything but prefers playing cores.
If we asked you who is this guy a year ago only few would know the answer. When Limmp left CoL he filled the gap in the mid lane more than successfully. PUBstar of NA Dota2 took his role seriously, improved significantly, and then took 9000MMR. He plays #1 and #2 but is also extremely dangerous in mid.
It is hard to take glory from his OG teammates, but Ana doesn’t seem to try to do that. He just learns something from every teammate and improves his game. His midlane gameplay seems a bit passive, but don’t let that fool you. He has 63% winrate and is not afraid to play all roles.
The least known player of the great 20! This young player from China has no real competitive experience but that doesn’t stop him from dominating PUB games. In his professional games he played #1 and #2, but it still remains to be seen if there is a place for in pro scene for this PUBstar.
Xcalibur (ex Horde)
If you watch high MMR streamers there is a good chance that on the other side you’ve seen Xcalibur. He has no major success in professional DotA. Until then, he remains a PUBstar. He is not a meta slave and he picks anything he feels like playing.
The newest member of 9000MMR club! At the same time, the youngest on the list with 16 years. Team Onyx picked him up and managed to secure their spot at the Kiev Major. He is pushing 63% winrate. And have we mentioned that he is probably the best Meepo on the planet?
