The DreamLeague Major League Play for the European and CIS regions kicked off two days ago with Virtus Pro coming out on top with a 2-0 record, with MidorFeed close behind at 1-1 and Team Empire with 3 losses and just 1 win.
After a short break, the BO2 matches will continue today (October 5th) and tomorrow (October 6th), with matches featuring Virtus.Pro, OG, Team Empire, Vega Squadron and Natus Vincere.
With that said, we broke down which are the safest bets and which teams are worth risking on in Days 2 & 3 of the DreamLeague Major League Play.
Empire vs OG
Even though Team Empire are caught in a slump, OG still aren’t a safe bet to go for the sweep. Not with them going through their own struggles as of the moment.
Still, the fact remains that Team Empire are not in the best shape right now. Although they’ve proven themselves capable of taking games off of anyone in CIS, they struggled to steal a game in their first official game against a European squad in MidorFeed; the very same team that OG swept quite handily in the EU qualifiers for the Dota PIT Minor.
If you’re going for the safe play, bet on the teams splitting the series, with OG taking map 1. However, betting on a sweep in the favour of OG isn’t exactly a bad idea either.
Virtus.Pro vs OG
From playing a team caught in a slump, OG moves on to face the tall task of taking down Virtus.Pro, who have only lost 1 series so far this season and are currently on a 10-game win streak with an 82% win-rate overall in official matches.
Barring an unlikely upset, Virtus.Pro are likely going to sweep OG and are at 4/9 (bet365) to take both maps.
If you’re feeling lucky or brave, OG are at 13/8 (bet365) to take a map off. Although you’ll want to hope for a miracle if you’re betting on OG sweeping Virtus.Pro.
Vega Squadron vs Natus Vincere
Had Natus Vincere not suddenly found themselves in a slump, they’d be the odds-on favourite to take both maps off of Vega Squadron. However, considering that the sharks have since taken down both Natus Vincere and Team Empire to qualify for the Perfect World Masters in November, things get a little bit messy.
Of the series of matches in Day 2 and 3 of the DreamLeague Major League Play, Vega Squadron vs Natus Vincere are the most likely to go 1-1.
If it helps clear things up, Natus Vincere does have a 2-1 edge in Game 1s against the current iteration of Vega Squadron.
Vega Squadron vs OG
Should Vega Squadron sweep Natus Vincere, consider betting on them to do the same to OG. However, since that’s very unlikely to happen, OG are likely the ones to do the sweeping in Day 3 of the DreamLeague Major League Play.
Both teams prefer playing the long game, waiting for their cores to come online before going for the GG push late in the game. However, OG has far more experience with the playstyle and 4 out of 5 of them have played for a year already.
Besides, despite their early-season struggles, OG still have one of the best carry players in the game in Roman ‘Resolut1on’ Fominok.
OG are as safe of a bet as can be to sweep this series and go 2-0.
