2019 MSI Semifinals Preview: SK Telecom T1 vs. G2 Esports - Esportsranks
2019 MSI Semifinals Preview: SK Telecom T1 vs. G2 Esports

With the Group Stage now over, we can finally set our eyes on the 2019 MSI Semifinals, where one of the matches will be between SK Telecom T1 and G2 Esports.

This will be a grudge match of epic proportions. After all, SK Telecom T1 will look to get their revenge against G2 Esports after losing to them twice during the Group Stage, in one of the rare instances where SK Telecom T1 found themselves not knowing what to do.

SK Telecom T1 vs G2 Esports — What Do the Odds Say?

According to Arcanebet, SKT Telecom T1 are still the favorite to win this series, despite the fact that they were defeated twice in the group stage. At 1.33 odds to win (bet $100 to $133), G2 Esports are the clear underdogs at 3.16 odds to win (bet $100 to win $316).

This may seem surprising to many LEC fans since they have seen G2 Esports perform pretty well during the group stage, and their games against SK Telecom T1 were very well executed. The first game that they played against each other, G2 Esports obliterated them at every stage of the game, and the only player who was even remotely relevant was Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, while Kim “Khan” Dong-ha and Park “Teddy” Jin-seong never managed to impact the game the way they would have wanted to. The game ended in just 26 minutes and by that time, G2 had a gold lead of more than 10k, and Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski was the catalyst behind the victory. They had complete control of every objective, and what’s even more impressive is that SKT couldn’t destroy a single turret.

During their second meeting, SK Telecom T1 fared even worse. It was an absolute massacre as the Koreans lost every skirmish of the game. Martin “Wunder” Hansen picked Pyke and finished the game 11/4/7, with Rasmus “Caps” Winther having a field day at the end of the game, posting an 8/2/10 scoreline as G2 Esports ended the game with a 12K lead.

2019 MSI Semifinals Prediction

2019 MSI Semifinals Prediction

Despite the atrocious games SK Telecom T1 had against G2 Esports, we still expect SK Telecom T1 to win. However, we don’t think that this will be an easy series for them. In fact, we expect to see the series to go the distance with five games.

The player to watch here will be Kim “Clid” Tae-min. If Clid can make an impact early on, SK Telecom T1 should be able to cruise to a victory. If not, then they’ll be in a world of hurt.

Either way, we firmly believe that SK Telecom T1’s superior talent, teamfighting skills, and championship pedigree makes them a safer bet compared to G2 Esports.

Betting: SK Telecom to win 3-2 at 4.55 odds via ArcaneBet.
