2018 Spring Split NA LCS Week 4 Day 2 – FOX and C9 are Top Dogs

After yesterday’s upsets, Day 2 of Week 4 of the 2018 Spring Split NA LCS was likely to be yet another roller-coaster. With so many teams battling it out for the top spot, and so many trying to get back up there, it was always going to be a battle.

At the end of it all, five players stood tall and were named as the OP 5 of the Week 4 of 2018 Spring Split NA LCS:

C9 vs. FLY

FlyQuest were using franchising to their advantage, using a substitute from the collegiate leagues, Jayj. Fly started off incredibly strong. After their victory yesterday, they were certainly feeling confident. This lead was snowballed until the Skarner pick came to fruition. Svenskeren combined with Smoothie on the Skarner could pop around the map and ulti people away from their team. A baron defence by Fly, followed by the pick up of the objective itself gave them an even bigger advantage. However, it was C9 who seemed to have the better scaling, which they used to end the game after a crazy team fight at baron.

100T vs. GG

A big mistake early on blew both Cody Sun’s summoners, which was then abused for the first blood in a standard 2v2 in the bot lane. However, Deftly (GG) used his flash to secure the kill, and was punished by Meteos shortly afterwards. Lourlo on the Illaoi was dominating Ssumday. They used Camille as a flex pick between jungle and top and secured themselves a very favourable match-up in the top lane. Golden Guardians used the top lane to snowball a massive lead and managed to beat 100 Thieves for their first victory of the split.

TSM vs. CLG

If you were looking for some mad match-ups, you were about to get them. Fiora in the mid lane for Huhi, as a counter to the Galio, was picked up. He was a monster, split-pushing like a true top laner continually 1v1ing Hauntzer. However, a rout by TSM around Baron which gave them an almost ace and the Baron, was almost certainly too large a deficit to come back from. TSM managed to ace CLG in their base, and end the game after this massive spike in gold.

TL vs. FOX

As one of the casters said during the game, “this game is on fire right now.” When two teams are battling to secure the top spot, it’s always going to be intense. TL would be top if they managed to beat FOX here. Team Liquid started incredibly strongly, getting first and second blood after some impressive play. Fox managed to get a couple of kills back, as well as some objectives. Fox began to dominate the game, but again TL managed to fight back to keep the game alive. When FOX came a-knocking, TL managed to defend their base for now, at least. It took Baron to decide the game, as TL tried to defend it 5v3. Fox cemented themselves at the top of the leaderboard at 7-1, alongside C9.

OPT vs. CG

This was another game which would definitely be interesting. Both teams won yesterday in Day 1 of Week 4 of the 2018 Spring Split NA LCS, and would, therefore, be trying to show that they were better than the standings currently show.

A dive in the bot lane gave Optic first blood and first turret, and the combination of Galio and Camille was proving too hot to handle. A failed engage by Optic at 21 minutes actually gave Clutch Gaming some hope, and Baron. Optic continued to throw, as Clutch showed more patient and clinical play. Clutch Gaming were now completely dominating, after being 6-0 down.

Clutch Gaming ended up completing the week 2-0.
